Can't wait to see James back, always look forward to seeing players taking WCs away from deserving youngsters/developing players and then only giving 30% effort. :o

I thought he did play the qualifier? Maybe not, but he does need to play Challengers. I don't get it, I mean obviously it is a pride thing, but he can't actually think his rank will rise if he banks on being given wild cards.

I guess he's in USA, but I might be wrong.

I thought he was playing in the grandly titled World Tennis Challenge in Adelaide next week. They still have him as part of the Americas Team. http://worldtennischallenge.com/wtc.html

Funny, I hadn't noticed that he was gone. That makes me wonder about others who're missing...where's Querrey?

James! :bigcry: So glad I got to see him live at AO'10. Saw him played very well against Clement.

He should definitely consider playing challengers. Andre did when his career was in the shit, so James shouldn't let feelings of pride stop him.

That sounds like Blake. The King of exhibitions, dead rubbers and lucky draws'.

Eighteen year old teen sensation Ryan Harrison (USA) will replace James Blake as John McEnroe’s partner at World Tennis Challenge in Adelaide. Harrison last year caused a stir at the US Open when he won three qualifying matches, upset the 15th seed Ivan Ljubicic in the first round (who he will face off again at WTC in 2011) and then went on to lose 8-6 in the fifth set after holding three match points.

Ryan Harrison is off to a great start for 2011. Having won the USTA Wildcard play-off for the Australian Open and qualified at this week’s Brisbane International he will be full of confidence for WTC as he continues his preparation for the Australian Open.

James Blake, who was desperate to play the World Tennis Challenge in 2011, was a late withdrawal as he is still on the fringe of the main draw of the Australian Open awaiting his fate over the next couple of days.

Co-Tournament Director Mark Woodforde was philosophical about the absence of Blake:

“James is a great player and we wanted to give him every opportunity to participate in WTC as he was so keen to play this event. However, last year we gave Bernard Tomic a great opportunity and this year we can provide this opportunity for Ryan to partner John McEnroe as one of the young guns on the tour.”

Ryan Harrison will partner John McEnroe for the American teamand will have the opportunity to compete against some of the in-form players on the international tour in Ivan Ljubicic, Michael Llodra and Kei Nishikori

What does it mean "awaiting his fate"? He can't make DE and he is not in Quallies List. Is he waiting for card?
