Dr Hi Rise (Isner) is top 20 now. #19 to be exact.

what is dr hi rise`s career going to look like down the road?

the sport is demanding as hell today and titles are very hard to come by. can dr hi rise equal dr ivo`s success in terms of winning titles on all surfaces? how many singles titles do you see in his future?

doe he have the game to make the quarters at wimbledon?

you have the floor. have at it.

Isner won Auckland last year.

my mistake then. i sort of lost sight of that.

lief shiras misled me. i was watching dr hi rise match from perth and he was one of the commentators for the match just before it got started. they flashed zero titles on the screen for him and 1 doubles title.

i will have to change the original post a bit.

He has two doubles titles as well.

Pre-thread research fail, CD. :wavey:

I think he could do more than Dr Ivo in wimbledon.
Isner has an amazing forehand when he wants.
I see some couple of titles and QF+ in Wim and USO.

I appreciate the attempt at creativity, but that nickname is just atrocious.

i realize that now man. they just gave the wrong info about him.

fast surfaces suit his game. his win over roddick at the u.s. open was quite memorable.

I hope this all-serve mug will never be a top 10 player. To saw Roddick as a GS winner and a former no.1 was bad enought.

I think that Isner will have better slam results than Karlovic. He may never win a clay court title (not saying that he wont) like Ivo, but he has already made it further at RG than Karlovic ever has and he could go further at RG in future. He's pretty dedicated to improving his clay game as well, though his size may always make it a tough surface for him.

John can rally from the back and has the potential to break the top 10 with a slam QF or two (US and Wimbledon being his best shots, as mentioned already). I'm not expecting a slam victory though. He'll probably also be a reliable DC player for the US.

Ivo's "clay-court title" was on the old Houston green clay, not exactly comparable.

Isner also got to the Belgrade final, wasn't far away. Should have won too, was a set up.

He should reach Wimby or USO semis at least once.

Isner, in difference to Ivo, can actually play some solid tennis from the baseline. Not top10, probably not even top30 on the tennis alone. But along with his serving and decent movement for a guy his size, I can see him reaching a Wimbledon/USO semi for sure, as early as this year.

Problem I see with Isner is that he doesn't seem to perform nearly as well outside of NA, which is needed order to make a significant splash in the rankings, i.e. moving into the top10. He'll be a pretty feared opponent on fast surfaces but won't be good enough to consistently upset superior players. He's bound to win a couple of 250's I guess, maybe 500's but highly doubtful to ever win a Masters event or Slam imo.

He got 4 finals in 2010, only won one of them :o
That's sad.

Yes, and he won't go any further than this (thank God)
