Wins this in only 45 minutes and surrenders just 4 points on return all game

 Expected but sad! That statistic of Gil's points on serve is very worrying, since it means that, if nothing changes, we will have again a player only capable of good wins on clay... but he had been sick in recent days, hope this was just a consequence of that.
As for Berdych, seems to be in devastating form! Some crazy run at the Aussie Open?

Yes, this is the main reason why I loved this result. This 6-0 6-1 shows that he is brushing away all of his ridiculous post-Wimbledon 2010 season and that he's ready to start a new year with the proper mental and physical strength :)

Pretty much the same start as last year where he beat Baghdatis 6-0 6-1 in his 2nd match in Brisbane.

Well, actually for me this result was also expected. But not because Fred is that bad, but because Fred wrote two days ago on his fb, he had a fevering cold after he arrived in India. Everybody who tried to do sports shortly after that knows you are very fast worn out.

Nothing to get too excited about, considering Ferrer nearly triple bageled Gil at AO last year without needed to exert much effort. Let's see how Tomas does against a tougher opponent.

With him playing an unreal set of tennis against Roddick and then playing shit in the next 2 sets :o

Not so sure, given his poor form for months towards the end of the season, it's a sign he's starting fresh, unlike say Cilic and Verdasco, who've continued mugging. I doubt anyone's really ascribing to it anything more than 'he's in good form himself', though.

For Gil's safe: stay away from hard court tournaments

Yeap, it was a damn huge lose but he was sick last days with a damn flu. I hope that this bad result doesn't influence negatively Gil for the rest of the hard court season.

good win for tomas, came into season 2011 under a suspected mug flu cloud...

Good win for Berdy, hope he can keep up the consistent results this year. :)
Especially after the dismal results he had after Wimbledon last year (except for the Roddick match at WTF)

I know Fred would lose this one, but not like this. I'm hoping that it was his (Gil) flu, that made this score so brutal.
