Hewitt will never get to top 10 with this game. No serve, no weapons, just pushing.

 There was actually some* good attacking tennis thrown in there today. Played some nice points off of Djokovic's second serve and set himself up for a winner at *15-40 on Novak's serve at 2-2 in the first but bottled it into the net.

Still, wasn't good enough for Djokovic who looked great in patches, but lost his focus for a few games in the second.

Some, I agree that there were times when he had chances to attack but was a bit passive. But, I don't think he went out there and 'pushed'.

I'm actually quite pleased with Rusty's play today, he was aggressive and tried to dictate when he got the chance. Djokovic said himself after the match it was the best set of tennis he has played in a year and a half in the first set.

Thought it was a good match from both.

Yeah, there were definitely good signs there today. I liked most of what I saw from Hewitt, just a few poor errors which hopefully won't dent his confidence. If I were a Djokovic fan I'd be fairly confident about the AO at the moment.

Ditto. I'm pretty happy with his performance, his movement was good, volleys were textbook once again and more importantly no signs of injury. Novak played well and it's not hard to get up for a match with a crowd like that.

Anyone surprised by this result? Usually Djokovic owns Hewitt, and It was one of those cases.

:retard:

You're right though. A great player like Murray, for example, could never lose to Djokovic with a scoreline like that...

(2008 Monte Carlo Djok. def Murray 6-0, 6-4)
(2007 Miami Djok. def Murray 6-1, 6-0)
(2007 Indian Wells Djok. def Murray 6-2, 6-3)

:wavey:

(And just FYI, Murray has only won one match against Djokovic that didn't have a TB set, and even there he had to win a set 7-5).

Why bring up 2/3 year old matches?

Seriously, is that the best you can do?

Murray has won the last 6 sets (3 matches) against him :wavey:

Again about a year ago. Doesn't prove anything. And Seingest is right, Murray's wins were very close matches while it can't be said the other way around.

So Murray wins don't prove anything, even though he's won their last 3 meetings? But I guess Djokovic's wins prove a lot, right?
Djokovic's wins = 2/3 years ago.
Murray's wins = 1 year ago.
Also, Murray's matches were straight sets, even if they were close, so why don't they prove anything?
7-5 6-2 isn't close btw, that's a beating.Child of Bruce Lee, could i ask politely that you cease getting owned in this thread... it's disrespectful to hewitt... cheers...
Getting owned?
I'm sorry, but since when does being called a moron = getting owned.
In that case, you get owned a lot on here and should probably switch off your computer and take a nap, cheers :yeah:

hey hey now... settle down... i'm a big murray fan too... but i sure as sh!t dont go harassing other posters through bitter frustration from it... he'll win a grand slam one day... remember: a true fan believes that on the inside and doesnt need to show it on the outside - that's a hollow, empty fan...

Pretty good match. Just a shame it had such an anti-climatic end to it, 2 DF's from Lleyton the last 2 points, :o

Nole was solid in that first set, lost his focus for a few games at the start of the 2nd set, but then got it back together.

Overall, I liked the rallies in this match, especially that epic 27 shot rally at 4-5 30-30 in the 2nd set, which Lleyton won off a ball that hit the net twice and dribbled over. But Nole was not losing this, he is just a bad match-up for Lleyton.

Oh that was awesome! I can't believe I missed this match!

Really like the form that Djokovic is bringing to the start of the season. I'm cautiously optimistic about the AO.

That 27 shot rally... :worship: But what a cheap way for it to end. Nole earned that point. :)

Murray's wins = 1 year ago.

tbh last one was almost 2 years ago, the other two wins were mid 2008.
i.e. all their matches were ages ago in terms of stats
