I know that this loss isn't a big deal but it seems that Harrison is on the good way to become new Young

Stats say this wasn't the most exciting match in a world

Could have been an easier 2nd set but i guess Sod just focused on serving it out!!

Livescore suggested Robin did what was needed and not an inch more in the second set. Dropped a few point early in pretty much every service game but never faced a BP while he took the only one he got himself. One hour match is the perfect start.

??? How does a loss to a top five player after having qualified at 18 give any indication of being the next Young?

I don't know why people are so obsessed with Donald Young on here. In my opinion Harrison is light years ahead of Young in terms of maturity and overall potential, and is still three years younger than him as well.

With Brisbane being the only tournament of the week to not have live coverage I obviously can't speak to the witnessed quality of play, but Harrison's serving stats are definitely disconcerting. His serve is too big to have such a low first serve winning percentage.

Hopefully Ryan will only learn from this match, and Robin will get an adequate tune up going into the AO...

They will call "New Young" every single american junior next 10 years at last.

Exactly. The "next Donald Young" joke is way past its sell by date. Ryan is doing well and I know he is a lot more focused on his goals to improve as a tennis player than Donald & his parents ever were.

We are going to be seeing a lot more of Ryan H that's for sure. Already he;s volleying skills are a lot better than a ton of experienced players out there. Bring it on. Today Soder was just too good. Too much power.

Let's not get too caried away. It was an expected win...

Yeah, "huge win" is an exaggeration. It's a good start though for Robin. Thanks for the highlights btw Joe.

Horrible luck for Harrison, getting through the qualifying matches only to face the top seed in R1. :( Just keep at it, Ryan! :yeah:

good win robin:)

and the comments about ryan being the next donald young are completely needless

young never would have won this many games...probably wouldnt have even gotten here.

Good for Sod but just really back luck for Harrison to have gotten him first. Hope Robin can win here. :)

I like Harrison. Powerful forehand, great consistency, he can volley very well too. He is a future great in the making imo. But, as expected, the most powerful player on tour was too powerful.

Soderling in his "charging hell-demon" form :). Very nice to see.

Harrison did show some beautiful stuff at the net, though. He does seem to have a promising career ahead of him.

Harrison plays highly-aesthetic tennis. I will keep my fingers crossed for him.

Tough draw for Ryan, he'll learn how to adapt and play a little better against big hitters like Robin. But Robin looked pretty good...hoping for a good Australian hardcourt season for him

Young never would have won this many games...probably wouldnt have even gotten here.

Young has a much higher career high ranking than Harrison, so I'm not sure how you can say that.

Harrison is still very Young, I mean young.

It was foregone he'd lose this match in straights, his game's still a work in progress and he doesn't have much experience. He's improved since last summer.

harrison will be fine. The ball-striking I saw from robin today was high-quality and it was a great response to the questions people had about him without Norman as a supporter. I have 100 times more faith in Harrison developing into a fine player than that joke of a prospect Young.

Solid start for Sod! Happy to see that.
Harrison didnt play too shabby, think he'll do good this year!

Soda is favorite for the title no doubt. Harrison showed some good power for a youngster, he maybe better than most young guys.

Harrsion looked pretty good in those highlights. He could stand to work the angles more, but that's easier said than done against Sod's power.
