Easy win for Benji although he choked big time serving for the match, Dasco broke him for the first time in that game at *5-4...

Verdasco had a big chance in 1st game of 3rd set, but...

... he is Verdasco... what else to say :o

and I just can't stop laughing 'coz some of the guys here were reporting how Dasco looked fit and totally ready for this tournament, trained hard and shit... lol

Fernando

All that talk about confidence and how prepared he was and this. Someone watching on Aussie TV said that Cahill said that Fernando was apparently NERVOUS about facing Becker. Nervous about facing a guy ranked 44 places below you with a 35% first serve in the first set...

Fernando, you have so much talent but you are turning into a joke :o

:spit: :rolls: and Verdasco is starting 2011 the same way he ended 2010...

Great match BB - he nearly stuffed it serving for the match in the 2nd but he recovered well in the 3rd. Good luck next round...

I was hoping he'd be out of his slump by now, but obviously no luck there.

it was obvious from the first set that verdasco spend more time on his hair then preparing for this match. lucky for verdasco that becker choked while serving for the match in the second set, which made the scoreline more respectable.

hilarious result.

Bit early to say but perhaps Verdasco gave true professionalism a shot, maxed out at number 7 and just can't be arsed putting in the work required to retain that level anymore. We shall see...

Verdasco proving the last two years were huge flukes and played way above his real level (30-40 in the world)

Verdasco proving the last two years were huge flukes

How can two whole years be a fluke?

How can two whole years be a fluke?

Easy answer, we are talking about Verdasco , a limited player .
His real ranking should be about 30 in the world or lower

What a total mug.

Becker served 35% in the first set, and faced no breakpoints.....

And why is that, should we use our feelings to compile the rankings or actual results?

No for real, pity that such a talent like Dasco is losing to some mediocre mugs that frequently. This gotta be frustrating. I enjoy watching Dasco, his flashy tennis is always welcome but when he starts making those shitty DF's I just wish to slap him in the face... What's the fucking problem with his serve, he is not an amateur ffs

I'm talking overall, he was "rather" solid today with DF's...

Nice propaganda before this match about Verdasco's fine form, fitness and preparation. "Being a bit nervous to play a guy ranked #53" is also nice.

No excuses, he sucks.

What is wrong with him these days? He's obviously a good player, otherwise he wouldn't have reached the Top 10 in the first place!

I know he's played crap, second half of the last season was awful, but I really thought he would do better this new season. Guess I was wrong :( Won't be long until he's out of the Top 10 if he keeps playing like this!

i don't know what's wrong with him but there is something definitely wrong with tennis when guys like verdasco can stay in top ten for years without really winning/doing anything. :o

Ths is hilarious.

And people were saying Verdasco had chances to win this title???? :haha:

He's back to his normal level where he should be. Nothing but a fluke. He is a 40-50 player. Even Becker is better than him and should be ranked higher.

After the clay season he will be out of the top 40...hopefully.

I seriously hope Verdasco doesn't start 2011 like he ended 2010. I'm not taking anything from Becker, because obviously, he came to play and played well, but Verdasco is a far more talented player, and he knows it. I'm disappointed that he keeps putting up these pathetic results against players he should be beating. Nando is not stupid. He better stop acting like it.

The serve should've been the one main concern in the offseason, but it's obvious they did nothing to fix it. Until then, Verdasco's results will suffer, and he has no one to blame but himself.

I guess Becker is the second worst match-up for Verdasco, right after Nadal.

I don't know why everyone is being so hard on Fiasco. It's abundantly clear that his tennis career has simply become a platform for his more important modeling career, and should be evaluated accordingly.

E.g. How did Nando's hair look during the match? Better than his opponent's? What about his tan? Will he be wearing D&G in the post-match? etc.
