Even I didn't see this one coming but it's always pleasure to see Marin digging deep . Year after year he is more and more stronger . Guy is like old wine . All this time in off-season without Marin is paid off in just one match . Priceless . World needs more guys like Marin . So innocent and so dangerous at the same time

kei:worship:

but i dont have any idea what happened to marin

lost the tiebreak 7-0 then did not earn 1 single point on return in that 3rd set, every single one of kei's service games were to love.

i dont know what has hapopened to marin but he's on his way to a MASSIVE drop if he doesnt figure things out and quickly

:haha:

Nishikori saved 5 break points at 5-5 in the 2nd set. Well actually he didn't 'save' them, Cilic just fucked them up.

Cilic had no legs in the end.

After 2.5 hours.

In the first match of the year.

I hope for his sake he's actually injured because if he's fatigued after this already, it's not a good sign :tape:

Kei - love the fight in this guy, he never knows when he's beaten.

Missing 8 bps in the 2nd and then lose the TB 7-0 and didn't get a single point on return in the 3rd. Nice one, Marin. Drop in the rankings, and even further in the next weeks.

In a smaller scale repeat of their match at the US Open '10 when Kei won 5-7, 7-6, 3-6, 7-6, 6-1, he saved then mini-MP at 4:4 in the 4th set.

Agreed - I don't know when exactly he ripped the head off the babies and ate them, I must have missed that one, cos it's not really deserved. He seems like a sweet guy who's going through an awful slump.

Mug.

Another 250 points gone, and when he flops out of the Aus early on he'll fall to 24/25 in the rankings. Past 16 is the danger zone, it's not easy to gain points when you keep bumping into top4 early on in draws.

Actually it was Kei who was injured, got a bandage early in the first set, that's why I stopped to watch. And then , bam! the shock! Kei is definitely back to "PROJECT 57"

you said it all

its been written multiple times on this board..once a hard worker become a lazy ass who will rather go shopping in Ikea or H&M than work 8 hours on the courts these days

Kei was solid...percentage tennis usually works against Marin so this was kinda expected

but what i didnt expect Cilic to be so flat and fatigued after a few hours of tennis

If that's what he's doing, Bob Brett won't be sticking around much longer - he's not the type to condone players who don't put the work in.

They have analized their partnership and Marin decided to stick with Bob...you always do that when things do not go your way in every sport......but like you said i wonder will Brett want to continue this

ive read in one croatian forum that he was seen in a club with an beer in his hand...its not a big deal ofcourse but you colud never see that a year ago for instance

if marin really is starting to go clubbing then put in work then i cant defend him anymore and maybe he needs to think about what he really wants to be doing.

on the other hand him being seen in the bar on one night having a good time prooves nothing and isnt anything terrible.

Cilic seems desperate to seal up a third consecutive ATP tiebreak mug-of-the-year award. He's on 41% career now, a stunning achievement.

Seppi and Kohlschreiber can only dream of such epic levels of muggery.

Great start of the season for Kei! :yeah:

He had no first serve in the first set but he managed to turn the table after holding off four BPs in the 11th game of the second set. Then winner started flying from his racket: Loved those lobs, BH volleys, slices, drop shots and today BH winners rather than FH. Cilic looked drained in the third set and he could not put up much resistance as Kei held firm onto the momentum.
Hope Kei will go deep in the draw! ;)
