Could see this 3 times in January. 1/1, 1/8, and 1/30. Abu Dhabi F, Doha F, AO F.

Federer had a complete mental collapse in that 1st set tiebreak and gave up.

He just held in there and waited for the Soderling error. His consistency paid off. He'll need to step it up against Rafa tomorrow.

Soda was not great, just enough to beat this dumbass of Tsonga, Federer made no mistakes.

Fed looked lazy in 1st set.

Fed looked lazy this entire match. Of course a lazy Fed still beats a regular Soderling.

Robin looked like he didn't care to much just wanted a good practise and then off to Brisbane, totally went down a couple of gears in the 2nd and in the 3rd and played and served pretty careless at times. Fed looked good and served very well.

Would have been silly for Robin to win again here hence to all the losses in the ATP tour....

yeah, henke007, i think soda has enough confidence in his sleeve to win Brisbane. I don't see anyone stopping him since Roddick is hardly his level now.

After the sudden collapse at the end of 2nd set Soderling didn't seem bothered anymore

I'd say he also has a good chance of beating Berdych tomorrow in the consolation match. That would be a decent win to get under his belt, even before he hits Brisbane.

Soderling won a tie-break against Fed

Fed does seem to come out on top most times they play tiebreakers, but didn't Soderling win a tiebreak against him as recently as their quarter-final of US Open 2009? Before that the last time he won a tiebreak against Roger was the first set in Halle 2005 (surprisingly tight scoreline in that match as Fed failed to convert on a ton of break points).

Fedv moved well, played attacking tennis and served well. That's all that matters. He does that and will have a great season.

Fed's gotta stop dropping sets carelessly. It's an exo, but still.

Soderling won a tiebreaker against Fed last year in Abu Dhabi as well .

in an interview on eurosport: no i enjoy playing these guys cos its less pressurised. get to take a few ideas into other matches because you can try them out here and see. its not like a matsers series or wherever i'm facing these guy or wherever it makes big news, you know, when i lose.
