Which player you WANT to win Australian Open 2011

OK. Let's see who you want to win the first major of the year.

Of course, I want Nadal. :worship:

I want an unexpected fairytale run.

Grigor Dimitrov, Henri Kontinen, Ricardas Berankis or obviously Jerzy Janowicz :rolls:

Though for the sake of MTF servers bandwagon prone let it just be a normal player. Then I'd say Djokovic.

Monfils or Nalbandian :) also De Bakker

Pirata.

Federer, but I would be happy with Djokovic or Murray. Soderling probably won't make it past third round  and I don't like Berdych.

I would personally really like to see Verdasco winning, or someone like Berankis or Dimitrov making a Cinderella story run to the title. Fat Dave or Kolya would be nice also.

Murray. I want to see him finally step it up on the biggest stage by playing the scintillating tennis he is capable of consistently during the tournament. By far the best player over the last 5 years NOT to have won a Grand Slam in his career. I think if he wins the Australian Open he could win further Grand Slams in the future.

This. Although I really like Federer, Murray needs to win serious titles because he is able to do much better than he did so far.

I think it is time Murray let go of his fear of winning a GS!!!

Nadal. Olderer has enough slams and Pushray doesn't deserve it.

Federer, because a win in Australia would give him the record for the longest unbroken period having held at least 1 Grand Slam trophy - since his first Wimbledon victory in 2003, there has not been a stretch of 4 consecutive majors where Federer has not won at least one. Of course this would be broken if he were unable to defend his title in Australia.

If he doesn't win, I'd obviously like Rafa to win. Holding all 4 majors at once is a very special feat and the mark of a great player. No wonder hasn't been achieved in the last 40 years and even though Roger was close on several occasions, he was unable to achieve it.

Plus, I may be in the minority but I am quite enjoying the Fedal duopoly of slams. I hope it continues for another year or two.

I'd like to see Murray break through at the AO, it would give him alot of confidence moving forward in his career.

I want Seppi to win...and I want it badly.
:)

Nah, out of these obvious options I would love to see Murray winning a slam finaly.

Useless poll, who doesn't want Čilić to win?

Rafael Nadal, it has been 40 years or so since a male tennis player has won 4 consecutive grand slams. Would love to see that happening. :)

If Rafa doesn't win, then I hope Murray will finally win his 1st grand slam, Nole, Delpo or Roger winning it, I have no problems with that either. :)

Nadal is my obvious choice but if not I'd like to see Nole win he deserves more than one GS

Andy Murray.
He will finally get his first grand slam.

Obviously Fed fans way outnumber any other fanbase.

But I want Nadal and if he goes out I want Murray. But it Nadal goes out to Murray than I want someone else. 3rd Choice would be Andy Roddick.

Hahaha. Blackbriar is certainly obsessed with Gasquet, but maybe only more vociferous than your own obsession with Berdych.

Besides he's played the best tennis I've ever seen, I want to see more.

There are a lot of players I want to win AO but of those who I think have a realistic chance to win the title I'd say Fed and Novak, maybe Murray as well if he plays agressive all-court tennis more.

I would normally be supporting Murray but as I have a ticket for the final I'd love to see Rafa create history.

Knowing my record though, the last time I had a ticket for the final it was Nole versus Tsonga.

So this year it could be anyone :)

Rogie for the win, but not sure who he'll face in the F. I think Rafa gets knocked off in the QF (Del Potro) or SF (Chokovic or Murray again). It'll be likely Murray again or Chokovic (outside shot/darkhorse is Del Potro).

Pippo is the obvious answer, duh. But, outside of him, hopefully it is an ITALIAN (ITA). If it isn't one of the Italian crew, I'll be rooting for Richard BERANKIS (LTU), Karol BECK (SVK), Alexandr DOLGOPOLOV (UKR) and David NALBANDIAN (ARG). And one of these players, including Rafael NADAL (ESP), and Mardy FISH (USA) will win the AO 2011 edition.

roddick, soderling or nalbandian. roddick cus he have had so many semi spots and always bumps into wrong ppl at wrong time. most fed ofc....a match against nadal could be a thriller.

soderling cus of his nationality and his place at the top. he also made such poor performance last year so that i think revange is something robin will take advantage from this year. also the new coach can be the key...but also the opposite.

nalbandian cus hes nalbandian. so mcuh talent, so many good matches when he won against the top guys. as u say he can beat anyone at the right day. and i hope ao will be his great run since he also wants some revange since 2010s poor season except uso series

It would be great to see Djokovic bag a second GS. Failing that, I would happily settle for Soderling winning his first.
