There is no live stream, but from the live scoreboard it looked like it was a bad first set at 6-4 Bellucci. Tommy's serve seems to be off compared to his first round match when he was popping off aces like crazy.

Most likely a normal student. I don't know (what I'd study) but most other people study so (if I) wouldn't be a tennis player, (I would) have chances to be a student.

Best moment on court?

Obviously when you finish a match and win, I think that's the best moment ... for me it was very special when I played in Paris Bercy (in 2006) the year that I was playing for (a place in) the Masters Cup in Shanghai, and I beat (Sebastien) Grosjean (in the second round) when I was a set and 5-2 down. If I was to lose this match I wouldn't be going to Shanghai ... that was a very special one.

Did you make a New Year's resolution?

What are you listening to on your iPod?

I don't listen to music very often. I listen when I'm going in my car, or when I'm bored in the room I just put on my iTunes and just put random music ... The good songs that are there on the radio at the moment, things like that.

Ok, what happened between Fognini and Tommy? I knew there were instances during the match where they were yelling at each other and giving each other dirty looks, but Tommy refused to shake his hand after he won, and the crowd was booing him so loudly he refused to give the post-win interview. What caused all that? I was doing homework while watching, so I obviously missed something.

You and me both then... I only saw what you saw too, some argument or something during a game. He was obviously very angry about something!

If the crowd still feels the same way tomorrow as they did at the end of the match, it'll be an interesting final!

His behavior really was horrible. If Tommy didn't want to shake his hand, he had a good reason not to since that is not in his character to be rude for no reason. Secondly, if he didn't want to shake his hand, so what? Fognini was the instigator and kept following him around goading him on with his hand stuck out, then he started cursing at him. Fognini could have just shrugged Tommy's refusal to shake his hand and left, but he was mad about the loss and the arguments they had on court. I hope this fires Tommy up for tomorrow. Now Tommy looks like a culo. Oh well.

Euggh I hate GM, mainly because its full of dumbass haters of my faves. :o

All that matters is he won. But I would think that episode between the two would somehow get onto You Tube. That had to be memorable. Hope he'll put it aside for tomorrow's match. He's tough. I think he will.

If Tommy didn't want to shake his hand, he had a good reason not to since that is not in his character to be rude for no reason. Agreed... I also find it hard to believe that Tommy would refuse to shake hands for no apparent reason. He also looked quite hurt when he was waiting for the interview and the crowd kept booing him :awww:

So... what exactly did Fognini do then? I had a very crappy live stream that kept freezing, plus the sound was horrible... not that I would've been able to understand what they were saying :lol:

i really dont understand why so many people hate Tommy! I really cant think of a reason some people are so agressive over how much they hate him? he has done nothing wrong, its not like he is the type of player who is up in the other opponents face in a match if his winning or trying to course sh*t with the opponent to get a rise out of them. He does not go out of his way to annoy peple like others do, he seems to me like one of the most normal of the players....i mean he does get a touch stroppy sometimes on court when he disagrees with a call but so does everyone and tommy makes it entertaing :P

I've had people react so strangly to me when i tell them i like Robredo ...then of course i have to sit there why they call him "Boredo" and listen while they tell me how "gay" he is and how he is a "talentless mug/pusher/journey man" it confuses me why all the hate =S

Fognini's behaviour really disgusted me!!! How can this kind of situation happen in tennis, during and entire match, and no one does anything about it??? I'm sure that everyone in the court understood what he kept telling Tommy, since he spoke in Spanish!!! :cuckoo:

Answering you question Gaby, Fognini kept saying bad words and trying to make Tommy loose his temper throughout the entire match!!! Thank God Tommy kept his head and won!!! In the end when Tommy refused to shake his hand he simply kept yelling him "Pedazo de Mierda", which translated means "Piece of shit"!!! No wonder Tommy didn't do the post-match interview, when all the crowd was against him, and I'm sure they understand quite well Spanish to know what the Italian had told him!!! :fiery:

Maybe Tommy should have shaken his hand, but I mostly understand him. The Spanish (and also us the Portuguese) are latins, which means that we loose temper easily! And we really don't tolerate things like that!!! :lol:

Xo, you've posted enough on MTF to know that there a lot of immature and insecure boys posting wildly in General Messages just to get attention. I'm glad that he won the match and kept his head! I'm sure he'll use his common sense tonight as well. He's used to hostile environment, so I don't think that the audience against him will change much. I hope he keeps playing good tennis and wins the first tournament of the year!!! :)

No I didn't see the RobFog match unfortunately. I surely did miss out - can't imagine him having to pull them down between points - must have been pissing him off. :D

I am not surprised Tommy lost to Pablo Andujar - Pablo is a good player with an aggressive net-charging game which gives Tommy problems. And Tommy was coming in off the win in Chile and had no time to prepare- didn't have a bye. But then Andujar goes and loses 1-6 0-6 to Ricardo Mello. :rolleyes: What a waste of an opportunity.

Tommy made a huge effort last week to win Santiago and it payed off, but it had a reverse side, less time to rest. He was really tired on the match against Fognini, he had a leg bandage and he had a medical time as well. Plus, he played till nearly 1 a.m. (local time), and afterwards as usual he had the post-match routine. Less then 24h after, 6h30 p.m. (local time), he was playing again. I'm amazed he took it to 3 sets, considering he lost the first one. It's sad to see him loose, but at the same time he can now rest a little more and prepare himself better for Buenos Aires :)

I've confirmed and Tommy did withdraw because of it. I can only understand his decision, since no one could assure them anything!!! It's not nice, since it's one of a few ATP 500, but his security comes first!!! Poor Tommy!!! :hug:

Maybe the two match was too much on Saturday and the match against Almagro was difficult for him.

I also think it´s sad that Tommy withdrew, but I can understand his reasons to 100%!

Oh thats a shame, but feeling safe and secure is more important than any tournment. He could do with a rest anyway his played great tennis these past few weeks so a little time off wont be a bad thing :)

I think he played enough. No problem, he was injured last year always. :sad: I don't want to again.

Tommy made it to the quarters last year so just want to see him retain his points......at the very least.

He's withdrawn--both from this match, and from Miami. I am curiously calm about it; he has defended his points here and can now spend a month making sure he's properly recovered for clay season. Better to be properly better and kick serious backside come Monte Carlo than run the risk of exacerbating it, right?
