kazakstan is really depopulated-- less than 17 mln people for the territory as big as western europe  but we have china and russia as neighbors, so.... with time they probably will help us in this regard :p

my daughter is 10 and she started her tennis lessons when she was 5;

now she has her trainings 2 hrs, 6 times a week, so it's a lot of work for a child, but she is used to it and started enjoying it this year :) but i don't want tennis to hurt her school, so  she won't be playing seriously i am afraid...

 about chinese, it's funny.. no, that is how the northern kazaks look :)

i have to leave now, good night!

I took this from todayonline. Thought it was pretty interesting.

20 THINGS WE'D REALLY, TRULY LIKE TO SEE IN 2007
------------------------------------------------
Rohit Brijnath
newsAnewstoday.com.sg

1)Roddick, Nadal, Blake, Murray, Davydenko, Hewitt, Safin hold a
"Deconstructing Roger" summit. Sampras will be the guest speaker. First
thing he will tell them is this: Lose the awe, fellows. He bleeds. Really.

2)In what is an annual lament/plea, can boxing please find a heavyweight
champion whose name we care to remember? The most famous champion of
recent times has been the Cinderella Man.

3)The modelling can wait, the acting will hold, the interior designing is
not going anywhere. Serena, Venus, ladies, remember tennis? It's time for
a final flourish. And yeah, feel free to bring dad along.

4) So this is naïve, but would it be so difficult to go 365 days without
finding that a sporting champion who you stayed awake till 5am to cheer
had a steroid in his urine, or HGH in his blood. It makes a mockery of all
our talk of human achievement.

5)More of the same from Tiger Woods. Always we talk of desire, discipline,
work ethic, creativity, concentration, and how men lack one quality, or a
measure of the other. But this man embodies it all. To watch him is to be
grateful.

6) The very worst of sport in 2006 was diving at football's World Cup for
it was a corruption of an art, theatrics in a game which has enough
legitimate drama; the very best in 2007 would be retrospective punishment
throughout the game. The great game deserves no less.

7)Martina Hingis wins a Grand Slam. Because she plays tennis like it ought
to be.

8) So many decades after Jackie Robinson endured taunts in the baseball
league, and Jessie Owens sat in the car and ate breakfast on road trips
while his white team-mates ate in restaurants he was not allowed into,
still racism infects sport. What irony that in Italy, home of the planet's
finest football team, black players are met with monkey chants and local
players give fascist salutes. If teams are not stripped of points because
of racist fans, then the game is not serious.

9) Cricket stops pulling the boundaries in. Sixes should never be gifts,
and the three-run, with its race between wickets, and opportunity for
run-outs, should not become extinct.

10) Tennis' uniqueness lies in the fact it has no seconds like boxing, no
sideline instructions like football, no messages into the middle like
cricket. You meet your demons alone, your doubts single-handedly. It's why
women's tennis' decision to allow on-court coaching next year should be
rescinded. It is plain silly and way wrong.

11) Someone explains wushu to me. Please. Mail me. Help.

12)A law that restricts the hype before an Ashes series. Napoleon versus
Wellington seemed like a schoolyard mudfight in comparison.

13) Golf relooks its rules. Players being penalised because spectators
have noticed a ball twitching in the wind while on the green and called in
to report it? What's next? We can phone in and report that elbow in the
ribs in football, what vulgar gesture the tennis chair umpire didn't see,
and interrupt heavyweight fights to tell the in-ring referee what our
local lip reader says the champion just muttered to his rival?

14)Jose Mourinho. Please. Shut. Up.

15)An athlete's existence is not always about winning Olympic gold
somewhere in the distance, but by simply becoming a better athlete every
week, every month, every year. It's all anyone can ask of Tao Li. That she
improves next year. That she never forgets the only road to glory is wet
with sweat.

16)Athletes who retire when still performing are rare and smart; athletes
who come back and tarnish grand legacies are many and silly. Yet, having
said that, this column begs Michael: Return, dude. That blown engine, that
anti-climactic finish, Schumacher versus Alonso is unfinished business.

17)Football gets a camera in the goal. It's 2006, guys, not 1906.

18)Someone tells Henin-Hardenne there is no points deduction for smiling.

19)Okay, fine, journalists don't quite ask the most probing of questions,
but any athlete who talks about "giving 200 per cent" (not possible), "it
hasn't sunk in yet" and "we're taking it one game at a time" in the same
press conference gets to have dinner with Mourinho after Chelsea loses the
title.

20)And while on the subject, can we have some more wit, too, even if
inadvertent. Like Evander Holyfield, when asked how he, a man of faith,
could have fathered 11 children with seven women, reportedly replied:
"It's 11 with five."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with most of them but especially No 14. :)

hello compatriots! hope everyone's had a good long holiday :)

my internet's cranky. I can't get on google or my gmail and many other sites. booooo...

SW! what's your NUS timetable like then? I've got a shitty time table as always. I'm so dead.

In other good news, I did ok for my exams though my average went down by 0.01. But I don't really care :)

I have no idea. There are a few slots for lectures and tutorials but I'm not sure which one I got. All are 4 - 6 pm though. I guess I'll find out on registration day.

silverwhite
12-31-2006, 04:56 PM
我也听说要等两个星期,但现在才知道原因
