He served really well during the grasscourt season last year but then he had that stupid elbow injury and he couldn't serve for a long time so he had to start all over again.

You can talk to me about Masha. Just don't expect to have a positive conversation.

Sobkin, the Youzhny's coach, said Richie's serve technique causes his elbow injury... I know little about technique but could it be true?

No, I won't talk to you about Masha until I find out what Sl..ta means?
Or until you admit that you love her... just deep inside, on the bottom of your heart ;)

Yeah, it could be. Some people say it is his FH while others say it is the long swing on his BH.

No, I don't. :ras:

yup 9:15. How's Happy Feet? Step Up is GOOD, if you're into stuff like 'So You Think You Can Dance'(Me Me Me  ), though I would have preferred more dancing in the show.. the lead actor Channing Tatum is :hearts:

I haven't heard of Center Stage! *adds to list of DVDs to rent/buy* OMG I'm like so addicted to SYTYCD, I feel like joining a dance class :rolls:

ataptc
11-23-2006, 02:14 PM

ataptc
11-23-2006, 02:29 PM
Hey I really liked Mandy Moore okay!(back then in 2000) I even went for her autograph session at Plaza Singapura!! Well, I was searching for the movie on IMDb and Mandy Moore just came to mind even though the site didn't mention her lol

PennyThePenguin
11-23-2006, 02:32 PM
I like mandy moore too. but yeah...it wasn't the point because I don't think the song was even featured in the movie if i remember right

ataptc
11-23-2006, 02:37 PM
haha the song was 'I Wanna Be With You' if I'm not wrong? Anyway, are there anymore dance movies to recommend? Is Dirty Dancing good? It's pretty famous right

PennyThePenguin
11-23-2006, 02:42 PM
dirty dancing is famous. but i've never watched it before. I liked billy elliott too although it's a different type of movie altogether. not as much dancing

:yeah: to the Singaporean girls (especially Sharon) on TAR Asia who didn't give up finding the clue. They need to buck up when it comes to actual racing though. They always seem to be one of the last teams. :o

huh? unfortunate incidents you mean? no...that's lemony snicket. haven't read those. this is a book on its own. :) it's quite short but i really love it because it just tells things in a very matter-of-fact way, sort of letting you see things through the eyes of an autistic boy and his messed up family life. :D of course he doens't really understand it all so you're sort of just as clueless as he is :

what a tragedy.. I still believe it was a huge mistake of the captain, and he is now trying to do the same to Richie!

watch the match closely and every time nalba serves (against marat of course) say--- nalba always serves with the first ball and then nalba never makes double faults! :haha:

oki, this excuse is admissible ;)

kazakstan is an akuna matata country :p -- no worries!
which means no one cares :haha:

they say our president complained about that publicly  is getting old and sentimental i am afraid

but i did not see the movie.. so, can't tell you if it's making fun of americans only

i can't put any money on russia at all! it'd make them lose :o

gulzhan
11-30-2006, 03:25 PM
SW... mmmh.. oki, forgive me being cynical (and being back ), but do you believe people always say what they REALLY think and REALLY want?

I can't download the movie here, but I am going to France in the end of the month and hope to do that there.. So, after I see it, I promise, I'll tell you what IMO Borat intended and meant.. :p

silverwhite
11-30-2006, 04:32 PM
The reviews were by film critics. They're not stupid for sure. ;)

gulzhan
11-30-2006, 04:43 PM
who said stupid?

people don't say what they think not because they are stupid, i'd say the opposite... and critics are people with their own interests...

of course they talk about americans, who cares about kazaks? ;) who knows about kazaks?

oki, now really off... good night, SW! talk to you later!

silverwhite
11-30-2006, 04:47 PM
That's not the point. They were just discussing the motivation for the movie. It doesn't matter whether the main character a Kazak or an Iraqi or a Mongolian. The point was to expose the foolishness of some Americans. ;)

gulzhan
11-30-2006, 04:57 PM
absolutely right!

could be anybody-- mongolian, turk, romanian, singaporean?...

but happened to be a kazak....

we are honored that we are used as material to show the american stupidity! :worship:

marat played really well today. after last night's crap performance. i was all ready to shoot him. but i guess he had a good night's think and managed to control his inner demons today. good for him. and good job to all the rest of the team who talked to him about it.

nalby though was all out of sorts :awww: pity considering he played really well yesterday. but all the better for russia :D

here what i remember---

first question was about the combination, if they knew they'll play today..

marat said-- there were many doubts, kolya could not play because they wanted him to rest before the match with nalba tomorrow, misha had an injury and they were not sure his leg will do fine in a 5 set match (they thought it has to be a 5 set match )...

i suggested SW to change the name of the thread to something more inviting  as Welcome to Singapore.. but he is too conservative :p

:secret: i also suggested him to invite his french friends here ;)

I told you. This is a spin-off of the WTAWorld thread so I can't change it too drastically :p

oki...
we need 34 posts more!

has anyone noticed peter lundgrem at the russian team bench? ;)

what do you think of him coaching marat again?

I thought he was hired by Britain's LTA? Maybe he's just attending DC as a friend?

here what i remember---

first question was about the combination, if they knew they'll play today..

marat said-- there were many doubts, kolya could not play because they wanted him to rest before the match with nalba tomorrow, misha had an injury and they were not sure his leg will do fine in a 5 set match (they thought it has to be a 5 set match )...

and then mitya added-- and tursunov can't play at net...

:haha:

 yeah. tursunov can't play at net except yesterday ;)

it SEEMS, from what masha ma'am heard, that they are in talks to see if they can work things out so PETER MIGHT COME BACK!!! :rocker2: and do DC for the brits at the same time

I was sooo nervous yesterday. first kolya...then i was really relaxed during marat's first set, the chucho started putting his first serves in and i was :scared: for a bit and hanging on to my cushion for dear life.

Hey do you guys watch the Asian Games in Doha? Kinda sad our womens table tennis team choked in the final against China. Just wondering why they didnt play Zhang Xueling as third singles player instead of Tan Paey Fern?? Cos I thought TPF is more of a doubles player. Why does Li Jiawei ALWAYS choke in big matches? That said, well done anyway! At least we got a silver.

Btw, Sun Beibei looks a good prospect.

yup, i watched it. they say zhang xueling off-form that's why didn't play her?
and i agree about the choking part  but silver is not bad too ;)

Hi mandynyuna! :wavey:

I don't think they choked, since they never led. They didn't take their chances though. LJW could have made it 2-2 but didn't play the big points well.

Silver is a good result. Tao Li did well to win bronze too.

dont' think they choked.

i mean, china is obviously a very great force to be reckoned with in table tennis. i think silver's a very good showing :)
