Please help me to clarify some questions regarding this event!
In the ATP list http://www.atpworldtour.com/Scores/Archive-Event-Calendar.aspx?t=4 we see "Indoor Carpet" as surface type. However, in the file http://www.lta.org.uk/Resources/Competition/AEGON%20GB%20Pro%20Series%20comp%20pack%202010.pdf of the LTA we could see "Indoor Hard".
I hope British fans may help us to look into :)

Yeah its indoor hard. SPent a semester at the university, and they have to centres, one for the uni and one for the LTA. Don´t know what one they are gonna use, but the surface is more or less identical

Is this now a new tournament?

A new venue but not a new UK challenger for this week of the year; in previous years this tournament had been held on the island of Jersey (it has struck the LTA over the past 12 months that this wasn't the most convenient venue for penniless players, brainboxes... :o )

The upper side of the draw is really weak. If nothing extraordinary happens Phau should be one of the finalists.

On the bottom half of the draw Haider Maurer, Ebden, Mannarino or Bachinger should be the other finalist.

I was thinking of going to the event this week, but there's no info online anywhere. I only know it's at the Uni because it's in this thread....

I emailed the LTA, but no response yet!

Anyone any ideas...can I just turn up?

It's about 120 miles for me to travel, so I need to be sure that I can get in when I get there!

Sporadically yes but I can't see Andy not prioritising singles - could you see him risking his singles chances at a grand slam with a long run in the doubles? (Rhetorical question really :p )

And surely if Jamie harbours any ambitions of rejoining the higher echelons of doubles then he has to find a consistent partner who will be fully committed to doubles week on week. Due to Jamie's work ethic (or supposed lack of it) I can't see him finding a regular high-level partner again; playing with Max Mirnyi was a fantastic opportunity that he never really grasped and if anything showed Jamie to be of limited capabilities. I foresee another season of mainly challenger level tennis playing with other Brits, such as Jamie Marray and James Delgado, unless he is able to show other specialists that he is as dedicated and ambitious as they are.

I wouldn't like to call Baker/Niland either. Both are consistent baseliners without any real weapons. The only yard stick here is form, Niland has had an excellent season whilst Baker has stagnated after a promising comeback in 2009. Baker has trained at Loughborough though which may bring with it some advantage.

And as far as I'm aware Cox used to train quite a lot in Loughborough, although I think he has now moved to the national centre in Roehampton. Regarding his game, he's definitely one to look out for. He's consistant, physical and right now should be brimming with confidence- he's coming off a $15k Futures win in Israel where he took out David Goffin in the final. Like you, I fancy an upset here. Nielsen will made to work for this.

Evans is also in form and is a tricky opponent for anyone - he mixes high topspin with slice, never allowing his opponent to get into a rhythm. Aslong as he can stay in control of his emotions he definitely has a chance to have a good run this week. Alternatively he may fall away in R1 - he's that kind of player!

I also think Willis is prime for an upset. He has also trained on these courts and waltzed through qualifying. He is a player that hasn't yet stamped his mark on the senior game and could do with a breakthrough run sometime in the near future. Having familiar courts underneath him may just be the encouragement he needs.

Thank you for extended answer! When I asked I didnt mean any regular brothers activity in doubles, only more often than it was last two years. So, Valencia performance was ocasional financial help from younger brother to senior :)

Money has nothing to do with it. The LTA have no appreciation of fans or that there might be people out there who are actually interested in a 'lowly' challenger tournament. This probably stems from the fact that most people who work at the LTA are executives and staff who have no real connection to tennis.

Just sent the following email to the LTA:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to express the dissatisfaction of both myself and the wider global tennis-following community with the lack of information made available by the LTA about professional tournaments in the UK, in particular at Challenger level. I suggest that whoever receives this message should first read the following thread on an internet message board for tennis fans: http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=171062 - this should make many of the issues clear. It is quite incredible that for Challengers in countries such as Ecuador or Kazakhstan there are live scores available online and results are published within minutes of matches finishing, yet with UK Challengers we must wait for hours until the drawsheet is updated late in the evening, and along with many others I am baffled as to how this can be the case, as it would only take one member of staff a few seconds per match to simply write one line giving a result.

Any information you have on why this is the case or what steps are being taken to improve the situation would be much appreciated.

Bachinger is a decent player, but that is a very poor loss for Adrian, probably explained by a lack of intensity and fight. I don't really care as long as Bjorn wins this event. He has to win this, with as weak as the draw is. AHM v Phau final, lets make it happen.

Yes, sorry guys, I won't be there today. I live several hours away and used the tennis as an opportunity to visit friends who are studying in Loughborough, so it's not as if I can nip down to get some results for you.

I'm rather busy with university work at the moment so I lack the motivation to type up match reports but if anyone has any requests for more information/a report on a specific match that occurred on either Wednesday/Thursday then just ask. :)
