Most ridiculous match I've ever seen. Frank really deserved that, Bohli was choking and defensive every single time he was ahead. He definitely did hit the net, and the way Frank smashed that racquet so loud on the umpire chair even started Bohli.

This match is great for Gicquel, he should breeze through to the title.

Frank hit the net, I actually saw it and was wondering if it were going to be called. This is the challenger series in a nutshell, matches like these. Just have to see it to believe it.

Dancevic wasn't a mug, he won the match, fair and square serving at 8-7, he hit a volley winner, kept his balance, never touched the net, it was called good first and then the umpire decides to say he toughed the net, it was riduclous:o:o:o

WTF ... you were a little to fast and if not for this frackin' judge, very wrong.

That curly judge stole Franks' point, you could see it on Bohli's face that Frank won his match point ... and then that judge ... wtf, even the audience saw it. Even now, Bohli said it was a miracle for that "ball", he meant for that judge fix.

And these French commentators ... omg they are so pathetic, so much fake emotions, I mean so much yelling ... these guys, they remind me of one Croatian commentator, pathetic dude.

Well, still one has left, Gicquel go !

This question is directed at those watching the video stream..

Let me get this straight, at set point to Dancevic in the third set TB the Canadian thought he had won the match (via a short drop volley), consequently throwing his arms into the air, only to realise that the umpire had overruled the line judge (on the line furthest from the umpire) and called the ball out, however he initially failed to hear the call as it had been lost in the cheers of the audience? And it was this that caused the following drama?

EDIT: Having read some of the above posts I now see it was because he supposedly touched the net.

Filo V.
10-16-2010, 03:44 PM
The question is did the ball bounce twice before he hit the net. Because he DID hit the net. The judgment call from the umpire is that he hit the net. I probably wouldn't have called that because it's a call that could really easily be wrong too, but he did hit the net.

Dancevic was at the net putting away a tough angled volley. He got the ball in and Bohli didn't retrieve it, match was over. But the umpire ruled that his momentum carried him into the net before the ball bounced twice, therefore he automatically lost the point. Bohli was getting ready to shake hands and Frank was celebrating, the crowd was loud, and the umpire said "net" about 5 seconds later.

he may have hit the net, but that's because he say the ball bounce twice so he knew it was ok, There's no way that he touched the next before the 2nd bounce, it's was quite obvious imo, I don't know what's going on inside the umpires head, like really???????????????????????????

6-2 6-3 Gicquel. This is Marc's tournament, he's going to win this. Bautista has played two tough matches in a row and I don't think he has enough game to win this anyway, not the way Marc has looked this week.

Bohli did not deserve to win this match...Frank was really fighting although he he had minor back injury. The way umpire affected end of the decent challenger match was just disgusting.

ibreak4coffee
10-16-2010, 03:53 PM
Frank should have walked off the court in protest. After that call was made, you knew there was no way he was going to win the match anyway - too tough to take that call after you think you've won the match. Judging by Bolhi's reaction Frank won that point, any contact with the net was much later - as evidenced I think by the fact it took the umpire so long to make the call.

Basically just a mug umpire trying to make his mark on the challenger circuit. And Bolhi is simply just a mug himself - Frank should have never let the match go on so long. The fact he has absolutely no return of serve is hurting him big time, making these matches go far longer than they should.

This is Gicquel's title now. I'll break two of my own racquets if Bolhi ends up winning this.

I agree that Gicquel is the favourite to be the other finalist but I am not sure that he is so clearly the favourite to beat Bolhi in the final as he played 6 matches last week and is playing today his 4th this one and he might be really tired tomorrow.

Yeah, but all of those matches were short. Bohli just played for like 3 hours. Also, Bohli doesn't even have the game to beat Gicquel playing well. Marc will dictate and should win comfortably. The French crowd will help Marc if fatigue becomes a factor.

Not really 100%. But it showed us who had more chances to take it. Bohli is a choker and loser but today he should win it even easier. That final was absolutely proper for the match.

BP's don't show the real winner of a match, no matter who played better, the winner is the one who wins 2 sets first and frank did that. he won the first one, and he won the 3rd one on that 8-7 point which the umpire abused his power to wrongly determine the outcome of the match. Simple as that. It was clear that Frank didn't touch the net before the ball bounced twice:o

Agree with you that Marc is the favourite to beat Bolhi and that the home crowd will help him . But Marc`s style of game demands a big concentration. On the papers Marc shouldn`t have troubles to beat him but I`m just a bit concern if fatigue can affect him.

Curiously, it's not the first time that happens something similar with Bohli on court. This year in Sarajevo's challenger on carpet I remind a match against Gorcic, Bohli was set down and was about to lose his serve at 4-4 in 2nd set what supossed almost a MP. Gorcic won that point and when both players were sitting on the bench the judge corrected his decission and the point was repeated.Bohli won it, the 2nd set finished in a tie break which Bohli took.

Finally, Gorcic won in 3, but it's curious to have one same player implied in strange calls. Nevertheless this Bohli a lucky guy.

Marc had *0-40 at *5-4, and he missed a sitter forehand at 15-40. Then he had a short ball at 30-40 that he hit right back to Bohli. Bohli was choking, Marc didn't play the points well, and then Bohli stopped choking and gained confidence. Bad set, too many errors, he has to recover quickly here.
