Disaster has struck at the US Open, 2010 edition.

Sadly, I knew this atrocious result would come to play. Very, very dejecting. Nothing else to say, really.

Just not good enough to compete at slams, not smart, no mental strength and a rubbish serve.

Highly expected, surprise Phau even took a set.

Nice choking by Mello BTW.

Disgusting to see that Bjorn cannot even exist in these matches. :tape:

Phau's 13th 1st round Grand Slam loss.

It is an expected result, but it's one of my main 4 or 5 favorites against one of the players I like the least, in fact one of the top 2 or 3 players I like the least. So I definitely was hoping Bjorn could pull of a surprise and finally get a win in a major. You are a fan of Bjorn, you must be frustrated by his never-ending run of poor results.

Bjorn is defending over 100 points through the end of the year. His bad results the past 2-3 months could come back to cost him a top 100 ranking. Hopefully he will find some better form, before it's too late.

Why you dislike Mello?

Why you dislike Mello?

No game, he's inside the Top 100 because he wins challengers in South America against nobodies, then sneaks a GS win against a mug like today, these are my reasons.

I know Mello personally, and his coach. He comes from a not important city in Brazilian tennis history and despite being powerless he has good tactic and technic display. I mean, the guy has won 10 challengers and more than 1 million on prizes, despite being a journeyman he must be competent for that,

what makes me mad is what Söderling is doing today, no mentality at all.

But it doesn't bother you that the player in your avatar is the same way?

I have other reasons too. Except with calling Bjorn a mug. Bjorn is amazing. That's what makes this loss even more devastating.

Judging by his last 3 tournaments, Mello is in the form of his life atm.

Shame about Phau.

Ooooh, burn. Although, Fred does have some decent ATP results. Most of Mello's points come from weak Brazilian challengers.

Although, I shouldn't knock Ricardo's hustle, he's got his ranking solidified in the top 100, making decent money by making R2 here. It is what it is.

Well, Ricardo has an ATP title on the bag.

Mello makes the most of his talent, pretty admirable given the number of totally gormless mugs out there who do the opposite.

So true mate.

If only Bogdanovic would play some of these mug challenger events instead of the stronger draws.

But I do understand flyboy's disappointment with the result.

Yes, which is amazing for someone with his level of ability. He has, as of right now, the better career than Gil, Phau and other guys on that level, simply for that tournament victory in Delray Beach.
