USO Round 1: Ivan Ljubicic (15) v. Ryan Harrison (Q)

Given that Harrison has qualified and Ljubicic's only win since Roland Garros was over a player ranked outside the top 150 in Umag, Harrison should be a real chance in this one.

Ljubicic won their previous meeting in Indian Wells 6-2 7-6(2) 1st round this year before going on to win the title (d. Djokovic, Nadal and Roddick). The Croat plays his second local teenager in the first round of a Slam this year after beating 16 year old Australian Jason Kubler in the 1st round of the Australian Open this year. 18 year old Harrison should prove much more difficult.

Who will win?

True that Ljubo has very few matches coming in, but I cant see him not having the quality to come through this one.

I think both players are injured, so it's hard to tell.

- Harrison made some good results here in US open, won on 3 matches.
- Ljubicic won Harison this year in Indian Wells (6-2, 7-6)

= Ljubicic to win in 4 sets.

Ryan was cramping in 3rd set of Machado match.
So I am not sure who'll die first here.

Harrison injured?

He barely finished his qualifying match. Had cramps, barely could move at some point.

Basically, who retires first loses the match.

The winner will probably go down in round 2 to Stakhovsky

Stakhavsky really needs to prove himself in Slams. So far he is 1-7 and on a 5 match losing streak.

With Ljubicic's age, form and poor record in Slams, rarely has there been a less intimidating top 16 seed in the first round of a hard court Slam. Should be very interesting.

Yep, I have Luczak as the winner of that one. Better player on fast surfaces imo.;)

Since when is fatigue and cramp an injury?

Well, fatigue at his age ain't exactly a tremendous boost either? now is it?

especially when your fatigued at his age after only going 3 sets when he could be going 5 here

ljubo will surely use his experience and big serve to edge this one on courts that fit his game like a glove.

On the contrary, he plays like shit here, he always has. The courts are too fast for a slow guy like him.
