Andy Roddick can win the US Open this year!

His draw is really easy imo!

R1: Robert
R2: Tipsarevic
R3: Monfils
R4: Davydenko

robert is a mug, tipsy at the big matches :o (also he got injured at toronto) monfils and davydenko is out of form and they can't play big matches as good as roddick.

he can beat in djokovic at quarter too. he beats him a week ago in cincinnati ;) then semi against federer and final against murray (or nadal)... after semi final, anyone can win. if he finds his form in the first rounds, he will have a cindrella story certainly :)

Roddick has beaten Djokovic in the last 4 hard court quarter-finals they've played (that's their last 4 matches, all in 2009 and 2010) so he definitely got the right quarter. He's 5-2 vs. Djokovic and he's 5-1 vs. Davydenko so it's all looking pretty good... until the semis.

Winning three 5 set matches in a row at Wimbledon is finding a way to choke?
Beating Roddick in 4 at Wimbledon is finding a way to choke?

Yes Roddick has the chance to go deep, but certainly he does NOT have a cakewalk of a draw. Everyday is a new day anything can happen, and you definitely do not want Tipsarevic/Monfils/Davydenko to find form.

We've also been saying for 3 years that Andy Murray would win a slam, and he's been falling just as short, if not shorter than Andy, who at least pushed Federer to 5 sets.

To say it's impossible isn't accurate at all. He has a chance, probably #4 or #5 in the list of people who can possibly win this thing, and aside from the French, Roddick has always been in the top 5 or 6 players who have a good chance of winning a major. I'd say that's plenty good chances compared to everyone else.

A guy as consistent as Roddick just needs the right cards to win, the same way he won Miami this year.

Federer has to go. Nadal has to go. Anyone with the moves, or a world-class game has to go. Right now, that includes Mardy Fish, Robin Soderling, Berdych. Andy brought his best game to Wimbledon, last year. What he's got now isn't good enough to get him past the semifinals if he has to play a real contender.

He is in Fed's half, so no.

On the contrary. I always think it's better for Roddick to be on Fed's half, that way the pressure of winning against Fed is lessened to a extent, due to the fact that it's not a final. Beating Federer in a Grand Slam PERIOD is good enough for anyone. Roddick doesn't have to be like Nadal and beat Federer in a final to have any credibility in the win in itself.

Just beat Federer. That's all there is to it. While I may have bashed Roddick for being obsessed with Fed years ago, this time around, I don't think it's bad at all. Roddick is looking to redeem himself for last year's Wimby loss, and I wouldn't be suprised if Andy is gunning for Roger ala Agassi-to-Becker style, lol.

If he can beat Federer this US Open, then by all means, Roddick will get this slam. Roddick's draw is all about beating Federer
