Has there been any official word yet on him playing the USO?

I hope he's in, he's playing Gil, on his website they stated "The 19th-ranked Isner, who skipped Toronto last week, believes he will be back in time for the start of the US Open on August 30th."

Yeah, but when the draw came out he said something to the effect of, "i'm in the draw, but not for sure playing yet"

I'm not wishing injuries for Isner, but hope that Gil can take advantadge of Jonh's weakness, in phisical terms. Specially cause it's a GS, so best of 5 set's, lots of physical effort that can be even worst for Isner. I don't know how bad is isner injured, but a think that playing to somo LL could be worst for Fred than play a injured John Isner...

Great news - let's see if he can defend his 4th round points from last year. Good luck, John.

That could be a tough task with his lack of practice, but hoping so nonetheless.

At the beginning of the week...it's been almost 2 weeks, because he retired from his first round on Monday I think.

I think he'll still beat Gil as long as he doesn't have to retire from it from further injury...

its smart of him to pull out even if it hurts him emotionally not to play at the US open, there is just no way he could be ready to do well

Matt Cronin even thinks Donald Young would have gotten in the MD without a WC so I wouldn´t trust this guy.

On Amer Delic twitter:

"RT @darrenrovell1: John Isner's agent @samduvall tells me his client is playing in the US Open. Good news for American tennis fans."

Ligament damage just means a sprain. He'll probably be hobbled still so I don't see why he's playing...maybe he can pull out a match or two.

All indications are John will play, and the truth is unless the injury were absolutely debilitating, he was going to play regardless. This is his tournament, the tournament for Americans, and there is no way he will miss this event, especially with how dogged a competitor he is. He has the draw to make R3 pretty comfortably, and if he can rest up the ankle with two easy matches, and more rehab, by the end of this upcoming week, he may be fine to really do some damage in the draw.

Hmm, but even if he plays, he probably won't play on his best level.. I definitely see the possibility of Gil beating him here. But nontheless good luck to both of them! :)
