Many expected wildcard to the main draw, but it would be wasted imo

pathetic and sad

he still can get a LL, he's not that far

Oh dear. :o

Indeed with Ignatik he was so close to lose, but Vladimir is too young to take wins from those players.

Well puke then, just make sure you do it in the toilet or something.

It would be nice if Mahut got a LL spot but can't bank on those things.

Can't believe he lost to this Silva :o

I read somewhere yesterday (can't remember where ) that Mahut said he was still dealing with the back injury that caused him to retire from a challenger match this summer. :awww:

He's injured. That's basically why he lost. He fought his ass off but he's not fit to play. He has an assortment of physical ailments, such as the back and legs. He may make the main draw as a LL but he'll not likely win any match. I'm so sorry he lost, I feel so bad for him, he fought too hard yesterday to lose today, especially to a guy of Silva's caliber. That Wimbledon match really did a major amount of harm to both Isner and Mahut.

I feel sorry for Mahut. He would have inscribed himself positively in record books at Wimbledon. Isner already was there thanks to his run in Washington 2007.

I was afraid that the wimbledon match would have a negative impact on both players in terms of fitness and health. I just hope they take an extended offsesason, say Octoberish, so they can recharge their batteries for the 2011 schedule.

Should have gotten a wild card, absurd he didn't. The guy deserves as much respect as Isner. I'm sure next year at Wimbledon he will, I would hope.

I wish he would recharge his batteries, but he likely will not, due to the fact he wants to finish in the top 100 this season, and he needs to probably win 2 challengers or at least go deep in one or two ATP events to make that happen. I believe he's playing a reduced doubles schedule now to try to take a load off his body. He's scheduled to play St. Remy indoors the week after Monday.

I was there and he took an injury time out right after he won the 2nd set, and had his back and upper leg massaged. He had some tape already on his back that had been put on before the match.

I thought the back problems may have affected his serve; he got very few free points with it, which put alot of pressure on every service game.

Jan Silva?

08-29-2010, 05:41 AM
Real sad. Also hope he'll be a LL. That'd be funny if Isner withdrew and Mahut got in :o

08-29-2010, 09:56 AM
I am gobsmacked Silva won even a single match, let alone qualify to beat Mahut. Mahut is too good to be having to play qualies, but so inconsistent it does my head in. Still, I don't like the guy, so I prefer seeing Silva in the MD :yeah:

There's no chance of him being a LL. He needs at least five withdrawals.

a LL in order to lose on the first match? no thanks

He's 3-3 since the wimby match. Isner is 5-3 with a final appearance in Atlanta.

Are you sure? I have 5-4 for Mahut in singles since THE match.
