Trademark playing styles - is Nadal at one end of the spectrum ?

It is often said that, if at one end of the spectrum, so to speak, we kave Federer who plays tennis exactly "the way this sport is supposed to be played, according to, maybe, its inventors visions" (quoting a romanian tennis journalist from memory), on the other end we have Rafa which, as Agassi put it so clearly, showed us that this sport can be played in a completely different manner with a huge ammount of success.

We also have trademark playing styles like Becker and Edberg or Berasategui and Corretja.

I'm watching tennis since the time of Lendl, Becker and Edberg and I'd like to invite you all to descride some trademark playing styles of the players you have followed during the years you watched tennis.

I'm interested especially in borderline styles of play, original in Nadal-like terms, if possible.

Tks. in advance.

P.S.
Anyone here had the chance to watch Suzanne Lenglen playing tennis (maybe on tape)? I heard and read oppinions according to whom she was a sort of female-Federer, a balerina of pure ellegance and style on court. Is this true ?

Nadal is considerably right of centre, but he's not full blown fascist.

Neither is Federer full blown Communist.

When it comes to playing styles, there is good an evil.
Good being great tennis, beautiful strokes, S&V, mental strength (though not all the time) and consistency.
Evil being chokers, cheaters, idiots, ugly tennis with no variety and mugs.

GOOD EXAMPLES - Federer, Murray, Del Potro, Soderling, Istomin, Berdych, Gulbis, Nalbandian, Baghdatis, Kohlschreiber, Schuettler, any S&V players, Stakhovsky, Dolgopolov, Montanes, Ferrer and Hewitt.

EVIL EXAMPLES - Nadal, Verdasco, Blake, Robert, Nadal, Devvarman, Simon, Monfils, Nadal, Koellerer, Pashanski and Nadal.

How can you say tennis SHOULD be played like this or this?

It is played the way it is. Talking about a standard is stupid.

A wiseman once said tennis is about keeping the ball in play, and whoever prevent the other from hitting the ball on the first bounce the most times wins.

It is that simple.

However, some styles are certainly prettier than others.

But all require different kinds of "talents".
