Didn't see the match but good to see De Bakker in a semifinal and back in the Top 50.

How would you describe de Bakker as player?

didn't see it either, but semi-final is niiice. Was Thiemo passively retrieving everything again?

he played solid, nothing great. korolov made lots of stupid errors which made it a horrible match. i still find thiemo a little to passieve on important points, he should go more for his shots then.

agreed, did expect Thiemo to be more aggressive compared to his clay game, but it is the other way around actually. During the clay season I really liked his game. I do believe it is a confidence issue actually, since I saw him choking several times lately (2 wild errors in the tiebreak vd Roddick, double faulting on breakpoint against Kukushkin for example). Confidence will rise tho after this tourney, so let's hope he plays more attacking in NY :).

On the other hand, if your opponent makes so much errors like Korolev ther is no need to play aggressive :)

Koro looked ok till midway through the first, missed one idiotic easy shot then went nuts for a while, lost 6 games in a row.

nice win for thiemo, good that he finally got a straight sets win

hopefully he starts playing more like he can again, its been a while since he won this many matches in a row so hopefully he'll get some confidence back from his run here.

First set was good from Thiemo. The second was too inconsistent. Totally agree with Borracho about his playing style. It's too passive from the baseline or he goes for an immediate winner. Nothing in between like building points agressively.
