Simone had one of the easiest sections in the draw, but apparently his form is so crap he can't even manage that

Anyone who has seen this austrian jodler play. knows for sure that Bollelito must have been in great form to achieve such a result, pure comedy, but always nice to see this baseball player lose matches, even against such a mediocre ch/futures player

That comment regarding Bolelli is really unfounded. He's a very talented player and even though he's been playing crap, he isn't crap per se.

Fischer also wasn't so in-form as you make him out to be. He reached the 2R and QF in his last four Challengers  Lammer was always going to be a tough match-up for him on a surface that doesn't suit Fischer's game one bit.

I don't get the comments about the big surprise either. This was Bolelli's first US HC match, Haider-Maurer is a decent challenger player and Bolelli is still far from where he once was. People tend to think he is already on his level of 1,5 year ago, because he won a challenger off late, but no by far, especially not on HC.

He should have stayed in Italy to play clay challengers, at not travel to the US solely to play these qualis without any preparation.

Devastation, embarrassment, shock, shame, frustration, pain. A lot of feelings are still running through me after this result.

Simone was 2/16 on BPs.

I'm just so so.....................at a loss of any way to comprehend this type of result against this type of player. Haider-Maurer is a decent challenger player, but he's a clay player for the most part. AHM I don't believe was playing on hard courts either before this match. I really cannot believe this. He had SUCH a fucking easy draw and blew it. This is truly a new low in his slump.

On the bright side, reports are that Simone will ask for a WC into the Como challenger next week. Italian clay challengers here we go!

Simone definitely should have stayed in Italy to play Manerbio and Trani, but hold up bitches! He doesn't suck. I can get serenidad on your asses about Simone and Pippo. Simone has a really good game, big time power, big serve, good athlete, some volleying skills. He just struggles with the return of serve, consistency, tactics and focus. The talent is definitely there.

Plus, he's ranked 116 and has nothing to defend the rest of the season. One or two good results in the next couple of months and you will be seeing him in the top 100! Good luck in the Italian challengers Simone.

Haider-Maurer also hasn't been playing on hard, and in fact as far as I can recall has never done anything remotely impressive on the surface. He's also much less talented than Bolelli. It was an easy match-up for Simone. I am not saying he was a shoe-in to qualify, but someone of his talent should be able to battle through as a weak section of the draw as he found himself in here.

I also don't know what comments about a 'great surprise' you are referring to (other than gulzhan's wow), as no one described this as a great shock.
