is rafa confirmed year end number 1?

It probable, but not confirmed. Nadal is on 8885 'race' points and Federer 5395, a lead of 3490. With the US Open worth 2000, two Masters Series worth 1000 each and the World Tour Finals worth 1500 maximum, Federer could still catch him.

Not too much. It's unlikely Federer will win all those events and besides, Nadal is likely to collect decent points in all of them too. I think it is almost assured that Nadal will stay #1 until the beginning of Monte Carlo at least which is about 33 weeks away. This will put him at 91 weeks and 8th on the list.

Even if Nadal loses in the first match of every event he plays between now and Monte Carlo, he will still have 7540 points come April. At the moment #2 has only 7215 points hence it is looking very good for Nadal.

affirmative. it is looking good for this year and the next. all he has to do stay healthy and just do his thing.

i would certainly call the dogs off if he wins the u.s. open. no need to kill your knees on the hard courts. the objective should be to put in a relaxed effort and plan/prepare for next year.

Happy that someone could be stricken with a disease? Oh, Certinfy, you've disappointed me.:awww:

Nadull forum?

:confused:No....:scratch:no, no Nadull forum that I recall. There is, however, a Nadal forum.:hatoff:

And since that's not going to happen, Rafa just needs to stay as consistent as he usually is in getting to the latter stages of tournaments. Not that I wouldn't love for him to win another title this year, but sheesh, next season is going to be a nightmare for him to defend them all.

Federer MUST get these two weeks one day, otherwise it will be historically unfair

and can Rafter look at himself in the mirror and say:

"I used to be the best player in the world"

?

nadal has to stay number 1 for 4 1/2 years to catch federer. thats effin crazy.

So this will be the next battleground. Should a miracle occur and Rafa wins a USO, next Fed fans are going to say he has to be No.1 for as long as Roger will. Y'all know it could happen.

Damn, look how far the top 4 are ahead of everyone. And J-Mac is far ahead of the rest of the pack too. Shows you that as much Rafa has achieved, he still has a ways to go to be truly in GOAT category.

What!? Of course not, I would never do such a thing to your beloved Rafa.

That would honestly be so depressing if he never does  And I'm not even a Fed fan. But the dude has definitely earned it.

He will never reach the top 4

I'm, surprised poor Rafter was only no.1 for a week.

BTW, are these all of the no.1s in the open era??
Not many

Hope to see Murray there soon :yeah:

Yes, he does as far as weeks being No.1. I'll be happy for him to reach just the top ten.

What!? Of course not, I would never do such a thing to your beloved Rafa.

Awwww... back at ya'.

He will never reach the top 4

 Is that all you have? That's rather tame coming from you. If Rafa had been closer to top twenty, you'd have said he'll never reach top ten. But he's close to top ten so he will never reach top 4. Well, yeah, most likely he won't, but he could top ten. And that ain't damn bad.

Where is it you hope to see Andy?

Unfair but somewhat fitting. Nadal that had been the thorn on Federer's side in his quest for GOATdom until Roger reached it at the FO last year. And for Rafa to take back the #1 ranking just two weeks from breaking Sampras' record and one week from tying it, it just fits. Of course, I'm a Rafa fan (previously on Fed's side). :D
