The bookmakers have made him 80/1! Surely he has a better chance than that if he gets a good draw and plays well? He just beat Nadal for god sake!

No

Not only that, but when was the last time an outsider betting wise or ranking wise has won the US open? I don't think I've ever seen it happen.

He will not beat Nadal in grandslam ..

I kind of doubt he can do it though 80/1 is certainly a bit long, especially since there's still a chance he could win the USO Series. Sure he was awesome against Rafa but I'm not sure he would have pulled it off in best of 5 where the top guys are all a lot harder to upset - he can certainly cause a upset since he's in good form, but I really doubt his ability to pull off several in a row, which he'd need to do if he were to win it.

no fucking way dude, you have to play at least 3 sets in a row, he will fall on the first week

I agree, though I would love to see it happen. Sometimes, miracles do happen-LOL!!

The lure of pizzas, bagels, doughnuts, waffles, steaks, chicken drumsticks, burgers, currys, kebabs, chocolate desserts and cakes would be too much for Marcos to resist especially in large portions in NYC so no.

I mean, this is pretty crazy.

If you think about, people like Federer, Nadal and Murray could very well WIN THIS WHOLE DAMN THING.

CAN YOU IMAGINE IT?

okay, so what if 50-1 were fairer odds than 80-1? they both say the same thing. its not happening.

Baghdatis def. Gasquet 3-6 5-7 7-6 6-2 7-6

NOTE: Gasquet led 6-3 7-5 *5-2 before choking.

Yes he did say that back in june. during the grass season, he was injured, and returned to France. He was in Nice, during an interview for Le Monde, he spoke about many things, tennis, medias, and of course the events of 2009. He acknowledged that somehow the tennis chose him rather than him chose the tennis. He acknowledged that he is not as passionate as other players. When he became famous (2005) he was not prepared and didn't really know how to react. Then, when asked about his relation to the medias, he said that everyone in France was waiting for the next Yannick Noah and that journalists started to become very critics toward him when they realized he was not the great champion they were waiting for. Then he admitted that he knew he would never be Rafael Nadal, he would never be a "champion" but that he is just a very good player.

He said in an interview at NH :' I am not playing to do well at the Slams or to win a Slam' ... Some ambition :retard:

he meant "I am no match for the top guys, so don't expect me to beat Nadal at Roland Garros"

Haha every top player wants to draw Gasquet in R1 at the USO now.

You make it sound some kind of significant. Well, to Marcos, surely it was, but not indicative of his USO chances. 7 5 set majors are a different animal from 3 set events.

Ok then watch this space ladies, I think you might be up for a shock

Watch what?

what were the odds before he reached the Australian Open 2006 final?

I was going to post that that AO was the best chance he had of winning a major.

I would like that to happen if Nole or Rafa can't.

Me, too. If not Rafa or Novak, I would like that for Marcos. He's the only player outside of my Rafole that I like alot.

yes he was in the final but i would bet more money on him now than the day before that final

All 128 players in the draw have a chance. But, does Marcos have a realistic chance? No, not really. He simply doesn't have the game to win majors or beat the best of the best if a major was on the line.

Come on, because Baggy made 1 x250 final and a QF lately, don't give him a free ride for a slam...
I love the guy but 3/5 setters would kill him on the run.

It would be nice if he could do it but I doubt it. At best he could make a deep run - semis or better.

08-26-2010, 08:39 AM
Well it depends if he gets "burned out" from playing New Haven. I mean if he is fresh, I don't see why he couldn't get to the 4th round at least.

Winning the US Open? Nah.

Beating Nadal on Decoturf is still hard but hardly impossible. Plenty of players have pushed him even this year.
