Good win for Benjamin, whose having his best season ever on the ATP tour. Marco C. is another guy who is overranked, though. He's gonna be out of the top 100 by the end of the year.

most of the players in 50-100 region appear overranked and suck, but there are no better players at the moment. The ones with the flukiest draws go up.

Becker is very underranked, on the other hand, has awful luck with draws. Probably in reality 40th best in world (top 20 on grass)

Marco is ranked relatively highly because of the solid results he got last year coming back from injury by winning a challenger, reaching USO R3 (after qualifying IIRC), getting to Tokyo QF and Basel SF. This year he's done precious little so inevitably he'll drop off. The consistent form he had at the end of last year is just not there anymore.

mmm not sure, around the time he won in Rosmalen he was playing around 40th ranked level, last time I saw him couple of weeks ago he looked very weak physicly. No power at all in his groundstrokes.

Best ATP season, yes. Because he's been able to string wins together on a semi-regular basis. His ranking last year was inflated due to challengers and winning an ATP title with a weak draw. He was HORRIBLE last year after winning in Holland on grass. This year he's been able to win on hard court and grass and even got like 2 wins on clay. His points have been accumulated by winning matches on the ATP tour, not challengers.

That's somewhat true because most of the players out of the top 50 have below-average records in ATP events. But there is a major difference between players like Marco C., Marchenko, Zeballos, Kubot, and then players like Falla, Seppi, Starace, Nieminen. The latter guys have proven that they can hang on the tour and win matches in ATP events on a semi-regular basis, and they dominate challengers. The former are guys who are in the top 100 based on about 2-4 good events, that they haven't backed up and show no inclination of backing up. The former are guys who have an out-of-the-blue run, an outer body experience in a way, and then crash back down to Earth and prove their true level. The latter are guys who are good players but just not quite top 50 level, but much better than challengers.
