They will lose. You know it. But you like them anyway. List 3 to 5 of your favorite mugs.
Richard Gasquet: magnificent loser. his technique is flawless, unlike his career. he can lead 2 sets to love and you know he will lose anyway.
Xavier Malisse: once rumored to be the future of tennis, he is a disappointment to most of tennis fans. but when he starts to play real tennis...
Arnaud Clement: few people remember that, few years ago, this guy made the final of Australian Open.
Olivier Rochus: once in a while, the diminutive belgian beats a top 5, but almost instantly returns to mediocrity.
Paul-Henri Mathieu: ah Paulo... he always try, bu he will never make it.

I wouldn't call them mugs, but players further down the rankings who I like are:
Phau - Cracked the top 200 in June 2000, is still top 100 now but has never gone above 59. 16 1st or 2nd round Grand Slam losses.
Stakhovsky - Crazy that a man with a career high 46 has three career titles. Perfect in semi-finals and title matches.
Luczak - Cracked top 200 in July 2002, been ranked around 64-200 since.

Almugro - One of my favourite players. Shame about the defence and RoS.
Gasquet - Always go out my way to cheer for this man, in vain. 2 sets and a break means nothing.

I know most everyone here does, which heightens the annoyance factor for me. These guys are top professionals in a sport that is one of the hardest to make a living in, because of the amount of players worldwide who play and this being an individual sport. So to call these players mugs is a slap in the face to them.

Rosol is a legend for his historic win over Nadal at Wimbledon, but he is an utter mug for all of his clownish losses since then, especially vs. a tanking Kohlschreiber in Hamburg.
I've watched a number of them, and Rosol has GOT to work on his consistency or he'll be ranked on the lower side of the top 100 for a long time. Can't expect to play like the 5th set in every match, though one can forgive him for thinking he's capable of it.

Hmm, honestly, I don't think Rosol could get any higher than 30 if he was consistent. He plays a very aggressive game, in a very defensive era (I also believe conditions will get slower too in the comming years) and he needs a mix of 1) A good day and 2) An opponent who will play defensive or an opponent who is content with giving him junk balls for him to be at his very best. I honestly don't believe Rosol would have beaten 'everyone' that day, the matchup just favoured him seeing as he was on form against a guy who doesn't posses the ability to knock you off the court; Someone like Karlovic could have won in three tiebreaks for example.
There is a reason he isn't ranked highly, not simply because he's a mug, he's this, he's that. I'm pretty sure, if he was a mug, he would have choked in that fifth set. Period.
IMO Davydenko or Nalbandian. Both guys clearly able to take on, and beat the best. Neither player making an impact what so ever in the mens game. Although they both won the year end cup. Stupid chokers.......
