i dont even care how bad this was davy egts back to back wins for the first time since his comeback:)

im so happy for him and he finally pics up points somewhere instead of losing them or defending them

hopefully, even if this was bad this gives him some confidence that he got through this

Good job by Davy. He needs to find his game quickly so that he can be factor at the Open and a dominant indoor player once again.

:woohoo: Great win, Ferrer is the type of player to give him (and I guess anyone) fits, so a big win for Nikolay.

Ferrer sprayed some FH's at the end, he was frustrated with that. Definitely playing alright still, should be good for the Open and maybe a second week appearance?

I like Ferru more, but I rooted for Kolya here

Godawful match, just an avalanche of errors from them both.

Ferrer seemed to run out of gas. Was *3-1 in the third but really fell away hard, like he did against Nalbandian.

Davydenko needed this badly IMO! So glad he got it!

glad I decided to watch this, although well past my bedtime. very up and down from Kolya, many UE's but still encouraging. fought through some bad patches, had confidence to serve to stay in the match... don't think he can do anything agaist Fed as of yet though.

p.s. cool that there were a few fanboys chanting Da-vy-den-ko together :D
of course the stands were pretty empty with most people opting to watch Sod-Rod

Did he get a straight point penalty, or had he gotten a warning earlier in the match for something?

AFAIK, after Davy broke to be *6-5 in the third, Pics sat down and talked to the umpire, he gave him the warning and then the point penalty, so Kolya started serving 15-0 already

He didn't get a warning earlier

David Ferrer would be so much more successful if he improved his serve which is certainly not top 10 standard.

I forgot to mention that I did catch the end of this enough to see Davydenko's form for the first time since Hamburg I think. He's still got the consistency, speed, power, but it definitely does need to be ramped up a little more. There were a few games where Ferrer got down 0-30 on serve and then Davydenko donated some cheap errors.

When he's at his best, Kolya redirects so well, throwing himself into every shot in order to take them all early. While he still takes the ball early, he doesn't look to be "throwing himself in" to shots like he does at his best. Just a slight observation, this tournament has been a solid step for him

Pics' serve negates his return, which is top 5 standard.

I'm with the posters who like both Pics and Kolya. For Kolya the victory was more important.

thanks for the correction, I have to admit I was watching the Duck-Toad match at that moment :p
but in second and third set he didn't ;)

Interesting...that doesn't sound like him.

That was not a pretty match, and quite frankly, David was the better player tonight. Nikolay just hung tough and David completely faltered as the match went on. David was the one in control of many rallies but he either couldn't finish them off or he made an error, or Nikolay turned defense to offense. But I'm not impressed with the Russian's level this week, however he has done well to make the QF, so congrats to him.

What an ugly stats chart, good that Davy won though. Ferrer is dangerously close in the race for a London spot!!

:o:o:o I am still crazy . Ferrer's win was last bet on my betting ticket for decent money . Davydenko was awful , but fucking Spaniard who entire life only running and returning balls couldn't get anything in the court . If somebody told me before the match that Davydenko will made 50 UE's and win the the match I would laugh at him but Ferrer.... fucking idiot
