Tense stuff in the second set, Djokovic was extremely clutch when Nalby had set points, and then David double faulted on MP

I love seeing that flattened forehand down the line.

4 set points wasted from David, he will be kicking himself

Nalbandian had a few set points and no doubt should of taken at least one. Saying that Djokovic saved 2 set points unbelievably well.

Clutch play from Nole in the tiebreak, bad DF to end it from Dave :o

hate this result. dave serves a double on MP after having a set point himself? pathetic.

Awful match

1w 14 ue from Nalbandian in the first, and failed miserably to take any of the multiple chances he had to take the second set after he'd decided to show up.

Djokovic to his credit played some decent tennis to save set points

Novak hit a big 119 mph second serve at 6-7 in the TB, that must've taken the belief out of Nalbandian

terrible serving and errors from nalbandian, improved in the second set and should have taken it to a third, but novak was extremely lucky on set points and wouldnt miss a single shot.

I believe that's called being good, not lucky. But, whatever makes you feel better.

You call ripped serves, and tremendous forehand and backhand winners junk balls? The only junk today was in your player's trunk.

Novak vs Roddick Quarter would be nice..payback time for the last couple matches they had between them.

tremendous forehand? novak was counterpunching 1/2 the time and david making UE's every 2 shots. the last double fault summed up the match and novak's luck.

What looked like an amazing day for tennis has turned into 2 awful matches and a withdrawal  Pretty disappointing these masters series events have turned into mugathons instead of highly competitive tournaments from round 1. The idea behind them is good, but whether it's because the players don't respect them, or they're all overworked, or they're just chokers, I haven't seen a good masters series match all year :(

Best I've seen Novak play in the hot sun for a while. :yeah: It's almost like he was determined to end the match as quickly as possible.

Plus, it's always a good thing to see the Fatbandwagon fall apart again, hahaha.

Nalby was lucky to make it this far due to Big John's injury, so no surprise that Djoker took out the trash here.

If Gulbis and Djoker lost on the same day, I would have killed myself.

Nice work, Novak!

Wasn't it pretty hot today? I was playing tennis with my brother (we live in Cleveland, well north of Cincinnati but still in Ohio) and it was pretty warm today. I love playing in the heat, though :D How did Djoker deal with the weather? Every time it gets hot, I expect Djoker to melt.

And talking about lucky draws, unbelievable luck for Fed. He hasn't played a single match and he's already in quarter finals.

How old is this guy??? :bdaycake:

Anyway, great job Novak, winning this in two. Still got to add some speed on that 1st serve.
Nalbandian, maaah...I kind of expected performance like this from him. It's hard for him to play his A-game against players that are great from both wings like Novak.

Great win for Nole. Nalbandian's fan base is being abandoned soon. He know sees what it's like to play against a top 3 player and not some mug.

I think they said mid 80s but I could be wrong. Novak didn't look too bad, he was edgy at times, smacking his racket, but that was more in disgust for some of the errors he had at times. He didn't outwardly show that he had problems though, which is good.

Just on a sidenote, lots of my family lives in Ohio and I'm a big Browns and Indians fan  Not sure if you are but cool to see someone from Ohio

It seems to be that David is finding his peak on players like Murray and Djoko. Time out of the tour is finally paying his bill. However David`s performance on the tour on the last three weeks is much more than I would have expected

unfortunately nalbandian didnt play well at all against murray or novak.

he needs to improve his start, and also his serve percentage.
