Federer into the QF playing 7 games

I doubt that this will be an advantage, though. Get well Philipp!

Federer into the QF playing 7 games

That doesn't necessary have to be an advantage though.

Hope the injury won't be too serious and Kohli will be fit for the USO.

Given he was in the finals last week that's a distinct advantage.

He might be acclimatised to the court but he will be fresher than most.

I don't think GD said that it's an advantage  It certainly isn't good for Roger probably, seeing as he could very well still be rusty tomorrow

Blackbriar
08-19-2010, 07:18 PM
does Kohli pulls out from USO too?

Cloudygirl
08-19-2010, 07:19 PM
whats up with Kohli?

Hope he's back soon.

Johnny Groove
08-19-2010, 07:20 PM
I think it is an advantage and a disadvantage.

Look, Roger is 29. He needs all the rest he can get.

But, he might be a little rusty, and he's playing Ferrer/Davydenko, a tough match despite Roger's h2h record against them.

I mean, if I was Fed, I would have wanted to play this match considering how little match play I got vs. Istomin.

Still, though, it's Federer, he'll be fine

I hope Kohli can get himself ready for the USO. He really impressed me vs. Nadal last week.

Yeah when I'm afraid to do something, I injure myself.

Roger doesn't need to have this kind of advantage as you call it. He would be the least one to hope for the injury of a player.

The only advantage is that he doesn't need to be out on the court for the match and gets physical rest, but on the other hand he gets out of rhythm not having played a full match yet.

Interesting to know if he would have pulled out vs istomin

thats why I wrote "Hopefully it has more adv", cause I dont wanna see him losing match tomorrow cause of rusty or smth

Federer certainly won't be complaining considering the tough back-to-back matches he had to play last week. Must be the easiest route to a TMS QF ever.

That sucks, I like Kohli, hope he can get better soon. Slight irony, the winner of the Toronto final endures two tough three-set matches; the loser gets a retirement and a withdrawal. Anyway apparently Fed is getting in some extra practice right now to make up for it, fingers crossed he can play well tomorrow.

He does if he bumps into an in form Murray again. That is, if he wants to win a set.

Murray needs to win some sets in grand slam finals before he gets the rep you push around on his behalf.

he schooled murray in the same event last year. like the other poster said, he has to win a set in a slam final first before such talk.

Simply a lack of experience. I'll let the H2H do the talking. At least Murray is improving - not sure one could say the same for Federer. He wants 20 slams? Just quit while you're ahead mate.

Murray had had "experience" playing Fed in a slam final when he faced up to him in one for the second time.

Not quite the same because Indian Wells has fourth rounds, but Troicki had a bye, a retirement at 1-0 and a w/o to make the fourth round there, where he was slaughtered by Berdych

And people talk about Djokovic often having cakewalk draws in MS tourneys, but Federer's draw here just takes the cake. :o

shut up gloryhunter. None of these opponents would come close to beating Fed anyway
