Murray should win but one shouldn't say Gulbis cannot beat him

Gulbis will eat Murray's serve alive. Only way Murray wins is a massive choke from Gulbis and I can't see that happening.

Murray will win.

Gulbisis one of the most overrated players of top 50. maybe because his father is billionaire. he is just a rockstar. the guy is 22 and everybody thinks he is the next big thing! Nadal won RG at 19. Gulbis won his first title at 21!

The H2H is 4-0 to Murray, but Andy seems to be having a problem getting back in the old routine after last week's highs. Ernie should have a decent chance tomorrow.

Murray IN 2

Hopefully Gulbis in 2. Murray needs a friggin break. USO is far more important.

Gulbis almost beat Soderling last week: 6-4 7-6 6-4 few points...
and it was his 4th match after 2 months injury come back;
so it could go either way whatever both have left in the tank.

Gulbis has less experience but could create some surprise.
Would be good for him if he reaches QF so Murray could rest ;)

I dont know who to cheer for, Im thinking Andy might just take this but who knows. Gulbis is definitely capable of winning this. Just hope its a good match.

He is a rockstar. He obviously doesn't eat sleep breath and crap tennis like Nadal has been bred to do his whole life, and amen to having a life and still being a killer tennis player.

I want Gulbis to come out of this match the winner. He needs a big win and a big result to give him some sort of confidence. He's got the game to beat Murray, but he can't give him any kind of open opportunities, otherwise he'll lose. I think this one will go 3, but it'll come down to who capitalizes most on their chances.

If Andy Murray had an evil twin, I think he'd be Gulbis. Murray will beat him.

I have the feeling Muzza may be a little tired at this point and the hot day match will favor Ernests. Erno is breaking through to the other side right now. :yeah:

If Gulbis wins, it will be because he plays better on the day.
Murray will never tank this match, even if it is in his best interests to have a break.

Could be a tough one.
I hope that Soderking takes the number 4 ranking after this week (just like Delpo did at AO) and then Murray drawing to Nadal´s quarter. That would be great :) But if he is drawn in Fed´s...

+1. I remember the Gulbiswagon in April, which was embarrassing.

I predict Murray to win in 3, with the way he has been playing lately. Which means, Murray to win if he doesn't go back to his old ways. Gulbis is coming off of an injury too. Murray should win this.

gulbis can be a threat here, murray wasnt playing well last match and if gulbis plays well he can take this

misty1
08-19-2010, 01:01 PM
murray may be 4-0 against gulbis but every one of those matches was before this year and not against this new and improved gulbis so it could be a little more interesting

it might be smart for murray to take this loss to get some more rest before the US open

im thinking murray in 2 but hoping for gulbis in 3

Not sure how Gulbis is playing this week. Against Melzer he served 20ish aces, but won a comically tiny number of return points. Kinda similar to those Karlovic-Roddick Queens meetings.

Gulbis also seems to show more focus and desire against the top guys. In Rome he beat Fed, and ran Nadal very close, yet almost lost to Volandri.

Also not sure Murray really wants to be here this week - remember last year, after winning Montreal, then the match vs Benneteau? There is the question of his seeding though, Soderling can still snatch that by making the semis here.

Gulbis can but won't win. The results for the this poll are just ridiculous.

MacTheKnife

Interesting this poll is this close. I picked murray, but believe at some point we'll start seeing some strategic tank jobs. This may be one if gulbis can keep it close. Getting so close to the USO that some of these guys will start thinking about rest over winning.

Good point sir. Muzza is stubborn and hates to lose anyway. No reason why he wouldn't want to win Cincy - the year-end #2 ranking is still very open, and he'd be sending a strong message to other contenders.

Personally, I think Muzza will find a way to win (or Gulbis a way to lose) but it could be in 3 sets.

estimating gulbis being virtually 100% while being like 24%, lol good call.
