Isner a break up and tweaks his ankle...a real shame. He was about to straight set Nalbandian. Might as well rest up and hope he's healthy for the USO.

Unfortunate. He was gonna win the match too, judging on how he was playing.

Big shame. Isner looked as though he'd be causing a few ripples on MTF. At least among its more clueless participants.

It doesn't look as bad as tipsarevic's. I think Isner will be ready for USO

How bad did the ankle twist look?

It didn't look too horrible, but obviously it was. He pulled up right away and called the trainer in the middle of the game and had a time out.

He didn't look comfortable. Tried to play on but lasted a game and a half or so. Hard to say how bad but hopefully he can bounce back from it.

How bad did the ankle twist look?

Couldn't move to his left. Limped at first. Was obviously painful, but don't know beyond that.

nalbandian had 0-30 so it looked like he could have been on the verge of breaking..

to bad it had to end this way..no matter how much i hate one player it always sucks to see a match end by injury

How bad did the ankle twist look?

not THAT bad. Got it taped (Nalbandian serving 3-5 15-0)
returned a point or two but couldnt handle the groundstrokes exchanges

Served once at *5-4 and retired. He didnt look happy but it isnt that bad if he stayed on court and played a game and a half...

Sounds like he should be good for the USO.

A shame. Hope he's back to fit for the USO, but even if he is, this might screw up his chances.

Yea Isner wrapped up the ankle and tried to see if he could still play...Nalbandian easily served out his game then it was Isner's turn. It went to 0-30 and he retired.

Epic fotfault called when Isner served 1st serve at the end.

A minor sprain at worse. Very sad for John but Nalbandian wont mind the rest.

If John brings this game to the USO he'll go far. A real shame this happened, but better here than the USO I guess

Rough luck for Isner there...didn't need that as we head closer to the US Open. He might benefit from a Wednesday start, so that gives him 2 weeks. Certainly possible to recover from a twisted ankle in that time, but it will probably be a close call. Looked like he would be challenging for year-end top 16, so hopefully he gets a chance to score some more points in a couple of weeks.

I feel like I say this a lot on MTF....
Surely you can't be this stupid. Nalbandian was on the verge of breaking because John could barely walk

A major sprain need 2 months of recovery, a minor one week, i think it's the latter :)

Oh no! What awful timing before the US Open. If he just twisted his ankle he may well recover but this will leave him short of preparation.

Wow, that sucks for Isner. This could've been a really good match, if it weren't for the injury. Hopefully this doesn't affect his prep for the US Open. He'll get a good week and a half to rest up and hopefully heal in time. He's having himself a nice year and I'd hate to see the rest of his year ruined by an ankle injury.

Get well Big John!!!

Nalby is one lucky SOB!!

Lucky one for David as Isner was about to win the 1st set and was turning things really difficult.

Ya sure, cause everyone "gets the hang" of Isner's server so easily. No wonder his serve is never talked about.

but of course David should win that match vs. Isner in normal way too...

Nalbandian is so overrated on this forum people are speculating he would have won a match he was losing  Nalby is very talented but he rarely plays up to that level and Isner is not a good matchup for him regardless. Especially with Isner's 3rd set tb abilities, once that 1st set was in the bag it would have been near impossible for Nalby to win the next two sets.

Glad he got through, and I hope he beats Nole, but let's be real Nalby was extremely lucky Isner got injured.
