Apparently Monfils got a call he disagreed with in the first game of the match and had a big argument and then his effort levels for the rest of the match rarely rose above disinterested.

Just pathetic from him - he is wasting his career.

Yup, Monf tanked after that argument. Retreated 15 miles behind the baseline and patted everything back onto the service line, no interest at all.

Falla served really nicely, but didn't have to do much else.

Inevitable.. and it was right from the start - the moment that Monfils decided that he would try to 'out-grind' Falla. The guy's decision making is unfathomable.

Can we buy a brain for Monfils (and French football players) ? And now, Richard Gasquet !

Seriously, how do you coach a player like that? How do you take a performance like that as anything else than an insult, or at least a lack of respect toward you as a coach?

At last the French coaches are payed by the federation, they don't give a shit.

why can't Monfils attack gosh darn it;why it is so damn difficult to be atop the baseline and finish points at net? :o:mad:

If Monfils in more interested in showboating and showing his muscles then he should consider the NBA as his next stop rather than USO.

if Monfils had zero talent, his lack of a brain would be more acceptable; as it is ...

that was an absolutely abysmal "effort" by monfils.

these tennis players like blake and monfils should be fined.

i HATE when players dont try when they have no injuries or health issues.
just awful attitude.
same with that mug verdasco, his boyfriend lopez and almugro.

it occurs on a daily basis on both women's and men's sides.

I expect him to be focused for a few tournaments and then something will make him implode.

This is a match Monfils should have won but I'm not even surprised that he lost in straight sets. Was Monfils ok after his match with Murray? Or is it just a lack of concentration / effort?

Falla totally deserved, played very agressive and really went for his shots.

Monfils is useless. Seriously, if he wants to actually be successful in tennis he should maybe thinking about listening to his coach and taking things seriously. Now clowning around and giving up after one lousy argument....useless.

That's the best damn thing I've heard all day. Why does the guy even bother to stick around knowing Gael will never take tennis as serious as he should. Rasheed deserves better and I'm sure a few players out there are waiting for him to pull the plug on Monfils, so they can get the chance to benefit from this guy's knowledge and expertise. Sorry he's wasted his time on such a dumbass like Monfils.

He's not as bad a player as I initially thought. He's good when he applies himself. This was a great win for him. Hope he puts together a nice run.

If this keeps up, I wouldn't be surprised if Rasheed parts ways with Gael before or at the end of the season. He has every right to call him out on his bad performances this season.

That apology just isn't good enough, especially since history has already shown that he's unable or unwilling to learn from past mistakes anyway :o

Never mind the score, did Gael do any dives or great slides? I think that's what he prefers opposed to winning anyway.

What more can be said about Clownfils? Probably the biggest joke in the history of the ATP, he'll go down in the history books as the biggest waste of natural talent for tennis obsessives like us and thankfully be forgotten by everyone else :o

What natural talent? Probably for other sports but certainly not tennis. Stop overrating him.
