Nice to see him back...probably shouldn't have lost the second set but he rebounded well in the third

A confidence boosting win. That 3rd set saw some really great play from Roddick, particularly the backhand pass retrieving the lob which Murray or Rafa would have been proud of.

Just needs to keep getting more match practice ahead of the USO.

NID, the effort to win the second set left Stakhovsky drained, Duck seems to be completely over his mono and will give this a fair shot

 This clown mono excuse. Slumping after 5 set Wimbledon loss is the new mono.

Goodness.

Andy played well, impressed by him since we know he's been sick. Stakhovsky ran out of energy noticeably in the third. Andy hit his backhand really well today, served well, and returned the second serve better than he sometimes does. Hopefully he keeps this level going forward.

A-rod still seemed a little sluggish but sure has improved since his last outing. Good to see him back. He just needs some more matches to get his timing back.

Terrible 2nd set, not a single BP on Stakhovsky serve, but finally got it together.

Hope he can build confidence this week.

Roddick shoulda finished this in 2...but he had some typically awful approaches to net in the tiebreak and we all know how that turns out. 3rd set Roddick was more aggressive on return and let loose a little more, no idea why he doesn't stick to that style of play but i've wondered that for years now.

Nice win, Andy. It could be more difficult against De Bakker in the 2nd round.

I guess the Mono wasn't that bad after all, Nice Stunt Clowndick.

Roddick is still clearly sluggish, annoyed and even more short fused than usual. That's the sickness and will subside as he gets better. Still a much better performance than any in the last few months. Very easy to be cranky when you feel like shit.

Stakhovsky is weak. Monodick got lucky.

He wants to be Andy again...
At the moment he is "The other Andy".

never should have lost that second set, he was up 5-2 in the tiebreak then lost 5 straight points

Yes, that was the big loss in his career where he could win it in 3 sets (but 2nd set tie-break which would change his career but he miss it). Unfortunely, he has done nothing since it.

Oh shut up. If he lost, then you'd probably say his mono is fake and he's a clown anyways. Dumbasses like you should be gagged.
