Will Andy Roddick ever return to the top 10?

With him unlikely to go far in either Cincinatti or the US Open due to his sickness can anyone here see him getting back into the top 10? Whether or not he plays in Asia could be a big factor as well as whether he shows up for the rest of the euro tournaments after Asia.

The problem is if Roddick is not top 10 by the start of 2011 he has a 250 win and a quarterfinal appearance at the Aussie open to defend, not to mention his points in America 2 months later (IW and Miami). I think this could be it for Roddick and he will fall down the same path as Hewitt and Ferrero and just really struggle to keep a top 16 spot even.

Oh he will.I mean, he's Andy Roddick, he's gonna find a way back into the top10. But top10 doesn't mean big titles, I mean right now players like #7 or #8 in the world and players like #12 or #13 can't be told apart.
And I don't think Roddick cares so much about being a top tenner or not. He's been inside the Top10 so many weeks for years, it's no big deal to him I guess... The thing is:Will he win big titles again?? I doubt that

Yes, now that they've figured out what was going on with him I think he will. The guy just works to hard to be kept down when he's healthy. Probably won't be for a while though. May take him some time to completely shake this stuff..

I think he will, but probably no higher than #8 or #9. Although he has a lot to defend in the early part of 2011, he could still potentially make a charge up the rankings from after Miami until Montreal. Roddick could well overtake Tsonga or Verdasco (or both). Also, Davydenko will have a lot of points from Shanghai and the WTF and Berdych will also have a Wimbledon final to defend next year. So there is plenty of scope for movement in and around the rankings in the bottom half of the top 10.

It won't be long until the 1st round losses add up.
His plea for money, his shameful sense of entitlement and endless
thoughts of retirement will not burden real tennis fans anymore.
He changed his personality 6 years ago; he never cared for anyone who liked him, so don't pity him.

roddick may get into the top 10, but its uncertain. he may be falling down the cliff of tennis stars and slowing falling faster and faster as the years progress. he could become injury-prone and become like moya - no longer even active. i fear the worst

Difficult.
But why not?
He deserves it.

He's fallen out of the top 10 before and made it back. He should still be consistent enough on grass and hard for another couple of years to be able to sneak into the top 10 IMO

We figured out what was wrong with him at 2009 Wimbledon MP.

Since then in slams, R3 QF R1 R4. Oh no coincidence.

We need to be discussing future players like BRANDS.

Pretty much that, he's got nothing much to defend in the coming months either.

He'll very likely be back in the top 10 after the USO, and will probably finish the year there (no higher than #7).

A good USO run should put him close if not in, if he gets past the 3rd round of course.

If Andy isn't mentally broken, he should be back in no time.

the great southern ape`s best days are behind him folks.

its a bloody shame that he could not derail fed at wimby last year. that was his last stand at a major/slam. he will never recover from that.

He's currently 7th in the 'race' for this year though, which shows that despite the rubbish results in the past few months, he's actually underranked in terms of how 2010 has been going. He has literally nothing to defend following the USO so a couple of runs to QFs would probably be enough to push him back inside the top 10.

MacTheKnife
08-17-2010, 11:26 AM
Yes he will. He'll continue to have issues in tight situations because I still don't think he's mentally over that loss to fed at wimby. BUT, even with that, he's still better than the vast majority of these mugs so he'll be back in the T10.

He's defending like nothing till the end of the year? So yeah, he will.

Roddick has only got 110 points to defend in the rest of the season plus he's at #7 in the race. I believe he'll be back in the top 10 soon.
