Average match I suppose, but I expected Federer to win either way. Federer probably should have capitalized on his chances in the second set, especially since he was a break up, but he let Novak back in the match with some poor decisions.

Anyways, the match had more to do with Novak playing not so well than Roger playing good. Federer was just solid at the crucial moments while Novak had a couple lapses of concentration even when he wasn't under the gun. In fact, I thought Novak played better when he needed to and then when he needed to just hold, he cooled down.

There was a pretty entertaining 22 point game at 3:3 in the second set with both playing above average tennis with Novak finally being able to hold. Federer subsequently then got broken in the very next game and Novak held to take the 2nd set.

3rd set was a dramatic one. Federer started out solid and Djokovic was playing bad. Roger then blew a 4-1 lead and continued to struggle to hold serve. Roller-coaster match but Roger managed to hold on when he absolutely needed to and Novak couldn't.

Should be a very entertaining match tomorrow against Murray :o

I'll upload the stats in just a moment.

Mugtastic match from Fed. he should 've won 6-1 6-2. If he played like the first set all the time, he'd be still No.1

Federer should have wrapped this up earlier and Djokovic should have won it once it got down to the latter stages. Entertaining match, albeit a strange one.

Fed providing all the drama this week. Dissapointing for Novak, fought so hard to come back after a dreadful start only to have chances and then get broken when having game point. Jury is still out on him unfortunately.

That was a cracking match.
I found myself cheering on Djokovic in the 3rd, what a fighter.
I'm finding myself liking him more and more every time I see him.

That was not an average match at all. It had all the ingredients of what makes a good match: quality, chokes, drama, clutch, luck, epic points, jaw dropping shots and emotion. Intense all in all, but maybe a bit of an anti climax a bit in the end with Nole's last service game - I give you that.

Should be good vs. Murray.

too flaky from both players, but they both wanted to win or go down on their own terms: attacking, attacking and attacking

some superb moments of tennis, a pretty entertaining match

A bit weird because as soon as it looked like one guy had the other down properly, they immediately took the foot off the gas and allowed the other to catch up again.

Could have gone either way at the end but Novak wasted chances and then kept throwing in a couple of loose points together - Roger just that little bit more solid under pressure at the end.

Some very good tennis interspersed with quite a lot of errors from both, neither would be entirely happy with that performance.

Watching Fed play nowadays is so painful. But the results last 2 matches have been good :D

JESUSFED in the 1st set, Nole looked like a scared junior. Then Federror came into the match at 2-0 30-0 and then the rest is history!!

Another very topsy turvy match very reminiscent of Federer's QF match against Berdych. There was a sustained patch of brilliance to go up 6-1 2-0 and then Djokovic suddenly found his game which had until then gone walkabouts. Federer up a break again early in the deciding set but he surrendered his advantage and was a whisker away from letting Nole serve for the match. Certainly full of drama but the match was really a tale of two actss: the first being almost a return of Ninjafed (assisted by a misfiring Djoker) and the second being a more confident Djokovic taking advantage of intermittent appearances by FedError.

Still a win is a win and let's not forget that this takes Roger back up to number 2 in the ATP rankings, which I am sure he try to maintain going into the US Open. At the same time though, I can't but help feel a little sorry for Djokovic. As badly as he played in the first set and a bit, he had reprieved himself by the end of the match and probably deserved at least a tiebreaker in the final set.

Federer can't go to-to-toe when somebody raises game . On big points he is or too passive or is trying to hit some low percentage shot, all these points he is playing somehow without confidence, the best example is BP in the third set , drop shot on easy ball from the middle of the court . And when his opponent doesn't choke he loses at late . He almost can't win big exchange . All this time only serve is hanging him around . These two close wins could be a turning point but I am somehow skeptic
