davy:sad:

i dont know what to say anymore, it appears as though he's done

He hasnt won 2 matches in a row since his comeback, he has been completely hammered in 2 of his last 3 matches and he's going to drop out of the top 50 with all the points he's set to lose

this is his worse loss since his comeback to a brainless ballbasher, someone he should never in a million years lose to.

Davy going to drop out of the top20 unless he wakes up asap.

I'm happy for Jim but really sad for Kolya. But he came back from a bad injury, it's not like he's out of the blue starts slumping, so I won't say he's done so quickly. I know you guys think he's old at 29, but just 6 months ago he was destroying the best one out there, it's not like he can't move anymore. He just needs confidence to get back in form. I'm very hopeful.

no serve, no pace, davydenko needs to hang up the rackets.

He also doesn't think on the court anymore, just tries to push back.

this is in no way a good win for chardy, he beat a heavily slumping davydenko and their past match says that he really doesnt stand a chance against an in form davydenko.

a complete joke that chardy is in a masters quarter final.

Great form this week. Happy to see he's got some consistency back and has now beaten three very solid hardcourt players in Baghdatis, Verdasco and Davydenko in a row. Djokovic will be far fetched considering the record but stranger things have happened.

hot got there by beating a struggling davydenko and a headcase in verdasco who aslo hasnt exactly been great lately so he is lucky to be there

it would be different if he had beaten these 3 players while they were playing well but he didnt all 3 have been average or bad for a while

i dont think he would be where he is if he came across any in form top player

Davy has never been a great player. He hit some height last year due to crapiness and injuries of other players. There is a reason why he has the least number of fans in the world.

What is wrong with Davydenko? Still struggling with injuries or is he just having a hard time coming back from an injury? Either way, he should step it up. Losing to Chardy is embarrassing enough.

Chardy has a bit wonky looking game but his serve in particular is huge for his size. The forehand is Söderling-like with the long wind-up.

Guys like Becker and Braccialli serve harder and are shorter.

I would say his serve is normal for his height.

Hmm you're right he's 188cm, I had the impression that he was shorter. Still I find his serve pretty big, it's not the speed always but the combination of spin and speed. Becker has quite a flat delivery and when it's off, it's really off.

Chardy's serve seems big because it's the only shot that keeps him in matches. Every other shot is so hit or miss he relies on that serve like Karlovic.

I think Davydenko is a rhythm player and just needs more match play. If he weren't so highly ranked, i'd say he should hit the challenger circuit and rack up some wins and confidence.

IT is amazing how the fixer is still ranked 6th.

After the 1000 shanghai and 1300 WTF points disappear the fixer will fall faster than james flake out of the top 100 .

As far as I know, Davy hasn't fixed anything since that Vassallo match (and rumour has it that was achieved by threatening his family).

The weight of the money here clearly went on him too - opened at 1.6ish, dropped to 1.43 or so.

Yeah, in form Baghdatis, then Verdasco (9), then Davydenko (6)! Impressive stuff, 7-2 in his last nine matches.

That wrist injury and then playing on it misdiagnosed may have had long lasting effects on Nikolay. That, and clearly his confidence is shot. He's a rhythm player, and being out for so long has taken his rhythm and game along with it. I don't see him snapping out of this funk this summer.

Jeremy basically just over-hit Davydenko and blew him off the court. A great result, a MS QF for Jeremy. Hopefully this begins a resurgence for him.

MATCH FIXING ON THE LAPTOP can cause wrist tendinitis. It is good to see the dirty fixer lose.

Chardy took his chance in a great tournemant for him. After losing so many points in Stuttgart this is kind of a comeback for him. Beating former-top-ten-player Baghdatis in the first round followed by two top-ten-wins, Verdasco & Davydenko. No matter that Davydenko is out of form. Great result & a lot of points!
