That last service game from Dolgopolov was :help:

Gutsy performance from Tomas, wonder if his knee will hold up. Oleks is getting consistent performances in week in and week out, really showing that he can battle with the big boys

wow im amazed berdych won that, but still great victory for him. dolgopolov was literally unstoppable on serve besides the 2 games he was taken to 0-40 and broken

tomas was in a world of trouble from the 2nd set on, he earned only 7 points on return from sets 2-3 up until that last game then broke to love

happy for Berdych but not deserved, no problems though, Dolgo's gonna play in 3-4 days in Cincinnati, hope he'll keep up with his consistance

Dolgo missed a forehand, hit a poor volley and DFd on match point. He's a great talent, but he's a very up and down player currently, makes too many mistakes. But with his serve and power shots, he is going to be a force to be reckon with.

Tomas played well, served well and was simply the more solid player, mentally and game-wise. He just hung in there and got it done in the end. Now we could be seeing Roger v. Thomas 3 in the QF.

This was a classic Roddick match. Berdych just served big and in the end snuck out a break on his opponent's errors. Dolgo really abused Berdych off the ground for the majority of this match.

True, Dolgo was really strolling through and doing major damage for most of the match with his accuracy, his ability to hit flat and hard and hit behind Tomas and expose his movement. But playing the way Dolgo does will naturally end up with him making a lot of errors, and it cost him. It's why Tomas now and Andy for so long have been in the top 10.

I like Berdych but wanted Ol' Al to win this. I said he'd be 2010's breakthrough player back at the start of the year when Tomic was getting all the talk and mentioning Dolgopolov meant all you'd hear was derisive remarks about fixing.

This was still a good week for him, he won some tough three-setters and this loss should keep him hungry. One of the most encouraging things about Dolgopolov this year is that he hasn't underperformed in the majors. Plenty of more hyped players and veterans have been less consistent in the majors this year. He should be able to do some damage in NY.

Before the match some posters were sure Tomas would hit him off the court, but Dolgopolov likes power and speed.

Granted Gonzalez was far from his best, but Dolgopolov made quick work of him earlier this year.

Dolgopolov's service motion is a bit like Berdych's girlfriend Safarova's when she first won a title and seemed so promising -- both had/have abbreviated and fast motions that can be hard to read. So many pro players with faulty and exaggerated service motions on the women's and even men's sides could learn from that type of serve. But he ended the match with a double fault today. so maybe it's not the best time to praise his serve.

an impressive performance still by Dolgopolov who is really close to mixing it up with the big boys of tennis. you have to think he might soon get the upperhand.

AD Jr.. has been linked to match fixing allegations? I have not heard this at all. Hope it's not true. He has so much potential.

OMG! I really thought Berdych would choke this away, but he didn't. He obviously proved he's mentally stronger now, and not to mention consistent.

in Umag he said he was never offered money for matches, but really, I talked to him when he went here in italy and I don't think he'll be able to think about fixes, he's just too crazy to fix matches lol

Wow! Dolgopolov has been quite impressive of late, playing tough against good opponents and squeaking out close sets and tiebreaks. Doesn't strike you as a terribly aggressive player, but boy does he wallop the ball.

While a Berdych-Federer (re)match is now in place, it would have been interesting to see Olek go up against Federer, and I'm eager for the day it happens.

Mainly because Olek is an interesting and unpredictable player -- it could make for a dramatic match and either surprise or inspire Federer a bit. He seems bored with ATP events at this stage in his career.

I agree...I really wanted to see an Olek-Fed matchup. Could've been an interesting test for Roger. But I'm complaining about Tomas-Fed

Berdych comes to the net with fire in his eye, points to his temple – as if saying he outsmarted his young rival – then raises a mighty fist for all to see.

:spit::haha:

What a mug, this Berdych.

I definately wanted Dolgo to win. I'm not a big fan of Berdych to start with but I really like this Dolgo, even though I hadn't heard of him until about 2 months ago. I love his style and his attitude, he just needs to get more consistent and he;ll be a real force to be reckoned with...............
