Fernando was serving for the match at 5-4 in the second set. Got injured in the third and had to have a MTO.

Neither of them were really able to capitalize on break points until Fernando broke in the second set, but after he got injured, it was pretty much Jeremy's match.

I'd normally be lining up to insult Verdasco for faking injuries about now, but the market this morning clearly knew he wasn't 100%.

Very disappointing loss. Fernando hasn't been the same ever since he overplayed himself during clay season. :(

I would've hoped both players get kidnapped and never return on the court.

If he stopped playing all these events, week after week after week, he wouldn't be getting this injuries and under-performing at big events. Very disappointed in him. So much talent, but so little intelligence to go with it.

So true. He should be smart enough to know how to schedule himself better so he can peak at big events. Unfortunately, it's not just scheduling issues to blame. It's also his lack of intelligence in taking this game more seriously.

Verdasco has lost against a lot of French players (Gasquet in Nice, Llodra in Davis Cup, Chardy here).

:haha: He served for the match! You have a very selective interpretation of choke. Players you like never do it and players you don't like always choke.

:haha: He served for the match! You have a very selective interpretation of choke. Players you like never do it and players you don't like always choke. What? Berdych chokes a lot and I never deny it :retard: I never denied he choked, I simply stated he doesn't choke as badly as some other players. :)

Please. People love the French. People hate the Spaniards!

Maybe the reason he gave a cold handshake was because he lost and was sad and injured?

Yeah, that tourney was sadly the breaking point and he sadly didn't learn anything from that experience either considering that he played another non countable 250 event (Bastad) shortly after Wimbledon. At this point I would be more than satisfied if he was gonna win 4 matches during the rest of the US Open series. :o

You've dug quite a hole for yourself  If people start listing them, this thread will be endless. My favorite is the Umag final, which he hasn't even lost, but he was doing absolutely everything in his power to lose from a double break up to an injured opponent. Indeed, if Andreev could run at all, he would succeed.
