Some things are just unexplainable.

There were 117 better players than him in the last 52 weeks probably.

And how many others have reached at least the 4th round of a slam this year and have beaten a top player?

I thought so.

Brands has done this and even more recently than Ginepri. What a legenda. :D

Soderling was very, very injured.

He was good vs JCF, yes

Lack of motivation.

Ginepri ranking is easily explained: he has one good week a year, and unless it's a massively weak 250 he's still not going to be good enough to pick up worthwhile points there.

You're underestimating the draw factor.

Outside 2-3 guys out there, most players depend on the draw and on the form factor.

There is no lack of motivation, lack of qualities or whatever.

The same way as Baghdatis could hit the top 10 if the draws are favourable and he's a bit lucky, the same way he can be 90th if reversed.

Chardy can beat Verdasco, Anderson - Querrey, then Verdasco can beat Murray and Nalbandian can beat them all, as well as lose to any of them.

Especially on American hard courts, there is not even one player who has a big edge over the competition.

So it's all about the draw and the "day".

Ginepri is what he is, as well as Lu or Kunytsin. Same for everyone except the ex-Fed and Rafa on very other surface.

Guccione and Dimitrov are out of top 300 but they both play a top 100 tennis on their day.

They're all very close in terms of quality

I think only Roddick,Isner and Fish are better than him, in my opinion he's better than Querrey and Dent. So he should be Number 4 American.

I highly suspect you're Ginepri himself. There is no other explanation for the infatuation.

He's just my favourite player, and i've seen him play many times. So i know how good he can play. He's just unlucky he always makes it players like Federer and Nadal difficult.

Real tennis fans don't really count Newport as an ATP title do they? It's really a mid- to upper-level challenger isn't it? I bet old 2010 version Sampras would have easily won it the past 5 years if he wanted.
