Just heard the news on TSN that PHM takes his place in the draw. Withdraws due to illness

PHM in demand, apparently, he's also replacing Gonzo.
So which match Paulo is going to play, I hope this one, Lu is easier than Gael, I think.

That means a good draw for Kohli / Troicki to reach a TMS quarterfinal.
Yeah, Devarman plays Monfils and Mathieu against Lu.

Feel really bad for Andy here. The US Open could have been his chance to redeem his year after a good start but a non-existent clay season and underperformance recently but it looks like he'll only really have Cincy to warm up properly for the last major in the season.

PHM in round2, to play Lu :-) Cilic out of that section too, troicki/kohl next not impossible for a place in the qfs. Now that's a lucky LuckyLoser.

You really think he has a chance against Troicki / Kohli :D You cannot be serious :D Maybe he´ll beat Lu (I go for Lu in straights) but not more.

I doubt Roddick is sick. I think he's just trying to avoid another embarrassing early round loss. He hasn't done anything since Miami and quite honestly, I don't expect much from him for the rest of the season.

Here is how I see this illness thing. Since I have not read any news about this but this thread, one can speculate about the nature of the illness. So it started a few months after being married right?

Careful people wait to get married to have sex and I assume Roddick is one of those people. After you get married, you have sex but with protection. That would be the period of time in 2009 around Wimbledon.

After a few months, Roddick probably started to be less careful with his protection, after all his wife would have told him if she had anything. Or would she? Andy being a good guy, he accepted her silence on the issue as a clean health bill. So the condom was gradually phased out, the same thing with the dental dam and eventually even purelling before and after finferbanging.

Some of those unmentionable intercourse transmitted infections can take months to incubate, probably longer in a fit athlete. And Roddick falls ill now. Coincidence?

Understand this is pure speculation, but could it be anything else?

I thought you were suggesting he was totally fine but just doubted himself and cba to play. I dont see roddick ever not backing his ability.

This could explains Roddick performances lately:

Lethargic Roddick to undergo tests August 06, 2010

Andy Roddick says he will undergo some medical tests after feeling drained of energy during his loss against Gilles Simon in Washington.

"Something doesn't feel quite right," said Roddick. "I haven't been feeling well for some weeks... Maybe it could be a vitamin deficiency. We will have to take a look at that.

"I feel pretty lethargic and not quite as excitable as I normally am."

It is not clear whether Roddick will be playing the Masters event in Toronto next week.

"First and foremost I'm going to test for something," said Roddick. "I'm going to get that off my plate first."

He's not excitable as he normally is. Well, it might be an improvement if he played lethargically as his normal excitability does nothing to raise his performance level.

But seriously, lethargy is never fun and I hope they find an answer for him with all the testing. The worst think is feeling badly and not knowing why.

Did Roddick not also pull out of the singles in Madrid with a virus or something? I think there's been something in his system since/shortly before he hit Europe. He has looked a bit flat in all of his defeats and many of his victories since Miami.

xaxa, look like Andy is learning from the master
maybe he'll say he was showing signs of mono in late 2003

 From here on out, no matter what happens, Roger will make damn sure everybody and their mother's mother knows he was suffering with mono back in January, as well as throughout most the year, and most likely last year too. What the hell, let's throw in 2006 as well, I think he was showing signs of a fever in Dubai.
