Big tiebreaker from Chardy, Baghdatis was frustrated because he thought he got robbed multiple times in the third set
Toronto 1R: Chardy def. Baghdatis 7-5 2-6 7-6(4)straitup 08-10-2010, 07:58 PM Big tiebreaker from Chardy, Baghdatis was frustrated because he thought he got robbed multiple times in the third set Jimnik 08-10-2010, 07:58 PM Baggy absolutely furious with the umpire, and rightly so. Some scandalous calls on very important points. Credit to Chardy though. Did absolutely nothing wrong and a great BH dtl winner at crunch time in the TB. timafi 08-10-2010, 08:00 PM good riddance fat cheating punk:wavey::mad:  HKz 08-10-2010, 08:01 PM Wows navy75 08-10-2010, 08:01 PM Wow, Baghdatis has really been acting rude lately. He didn't even look at Chardy and barely grazed his hand while walking sideways (to which Chardy looked confused and said something), and left the court in about two seconds without so much as lifting his head. I used to think Baghdatis was a really fun-loving and charismatic guy, but he seems to be becoming much more brusque in his old age... tennisfan856 08-10-2010, 08:02 PM the umpire and his henchmen were awful towards both players the whole match. For so many points in this tourny, it is an embarrassment that a tournament like this doesn't have challenge on its second court. DrJules 08-10-2010, 08:02 PM Big tiebreaker from Chardy, Baghdatis was frustrated by a line call in the third set Replays showed the linesperson was actually correct and the umpire wrong to overule. Far to close for an overule and it was a vital point in tie break. garytennis 08-10-2010, 08:03 PM I like Marcos, but 2010 is a difficult year for Chardy, so I am happy for Jérémy, it's a very deserved win. I used to think Baghdatis was a really fun-loving and charismatic guy, but he seems to be becoming much more brusque in his old age... I felt Baghdatis had very good reason to be annoyed with the umpire, but he seemed more annoyed with Chardy which did not make sense. Ozone 08-10-2010, 08:04 PM :bigcry: Stupid chair umpire Ozone 08-10-2010, 08:05 PM I felt Baghdatis had very good reason to be annoyed with the umpire, but he seemed more annoyed with Chardy which did not make sense. Yeah I agree. I didnt think Chardy did anything to him but he was very angry with the chair. Rightfully so Jimnik 08-10-2010, 08:05 PM Big tiebreaker from Chardy, Baghdatis was frustrated by a line call in the third set Replays showed the linesperson was actually correct and the umpire wrong to overule. Far to close for an overule and it was a vital point in tie break. It wasn't just that. There was also the point at 2-3 3rd set. Chardy's BH landed well long but no call. I used to think Baghdatis was a really fun-loving and charismatic guy, but he seems to be becoming much more brusque in his old age... He is 25 and he got severely shafted by the chair umpire at the most crucial times in this match. Jimnik 08-10-2010, 08:07 PM I felt Baghdatis had very good reason to be annoyed with the umpire, but he seemed more annoyed with Chardy which did not make sense. If you're referring to the handshake, he just wanted to get off court as fast as possible. It was nothing against Chardy. Everko 08-10-2010, 08:07 PM good riddance fat cheating punk:wavey::mad:  you just come from crazy world? tennisfan856 08-10-2010, 08:09 PM im sure marcos will apologize in the locker room once he cools off. Chardy didn't do one thing throughout the whole match for marcos to be personally pissed off at him scarecrows 08-10-2010, 08:09 PM there have been some atrocious calls in this tournament even on center court where fortunately there's hawk eye there was a service from Stakhovsky around 15cm in also the point where Nalbandian went 4-2 up in the 3d was called out but was well before the baseline Puschkin 08-10-2010, 08:10 PM That match mostly all about Jim, he did the winners and the errors. straitup 08-10-2010, 08:11 PM If you're referring to the handshake, he just wanted to get off court as fast as possible. Nothing personal against Chardy. Exactly...he was frustrated enough and felt robbed that he just wanted to get off quickly. Baghdatis doesn't seem like the type to feud with other players or get angry at them Sapeod 08-10-2010, 08:12 PM Baghdatis was robbed. Umpire, linejudges are all idiots. Chardy won based on crappy calls by stupid idiotic linejudges and that prick of an umpire. Baghdatis#1 08-10-2010, 09:09 PM im sure marcos will apologize in the locker room once he cools off. Chardy didn't do one thing throughout the whole match for marcos to be personally pissed off at him Of course ;) He is friends with all of the French guys anyways  I felt Baghdatis had very good reason to be annoyed with the umpire, but he seemed more annoyed with Chardy which did not make sense. I think it was because the bad calls against Marcos were during important points  Wow, Baghdatis has really been acting rude lately. He still is . Obviously you didn't see the end of the match. He was clearly robbed of a win ;). Did you hear his speech on Sunday? He's still a nice guy. And he's only 25. That's not really old :lol: good riddance fat cheating punk:wavey::mad:  What? :spit: Baghdatis#1 08-10-2010, 09:09 PM Marcos was up 5-2 in the first set so he should've won anyways  The Magician 08-10-2010, 10:05 PM Terrible line calling. Sucks that Chardy won though, the guy is the definition of a ballbasher. When Baghdatis of all people is pushing because Chardy is so wild it's a sign of a bad match. Stephan 08-10-2010, 10:36 PM Marcos  philosophicalarf 08-10-2010, 10:37 PM Baggy wasn't overly impressive last week, tbh, despite the results. Going from 5-2 to 5-7 in the first set is consistent with that. Chardy starting to find occasional flashes of form recently. Not at all consistent of course, but his norm lately would be to df 3 times in the tiebreak then hit a forehand so long it lands in the US. This was a significant improvement. Ariel 08-11-2010, 12:38 AM Who was the chair umpire for this match? Anyone know? Chardy played a good match. No matter what calls go against Baghdatis, he should have been able to put them behind him like someone whose last names begins with N and ends in L. Marcos, I'm afraid, has never been able to keep himself under wraps. dombrfc 08-11-2010, 12:40 AM Terrible line calling. Sucks that Chardy won though, the guy is the definition of a ballbasher. When Baghdatis of all people is pushing because Chardy is so wild it's a sign of a bad match. +1 Henry Chinaski 08-11-2010, 01:39 AM Disgusting call from the chair in the tiebreak. Not sure who the ump was. Didn't recognise him. Credit to Chardy though. he played a ballsy breaker. Baggy was pushing it to the backhand side seeing if Chardy had the balls to produce the goods when it mattered and, well, the scoreline says it all. Nolby 08-11-2010, 01:48 AM Baggy! :bigcry: What a horrible way to lose a match. Reaction is understandable and obvously Marcos will be friends with Jeremy after some time passes. This was not personal. Baggy is an extremely gracious man and good sport. Those with short memories need to go back and watch the Legg Mason Final on Sunday and watch Match Point and the Trophy presentation to get a clearer perspective. Geo 08-11-2010, 01:57 AM Baghdatis did get some crappy calls, but he also squandered a lead in the 1st set  :o FlameOn 08-11-2010, 02:41 AM Good win for Jeremy. :bounce: cutesteve22 08-11-2010, 02:59 AM umpire were so awful CooCooCachoo 08-11-2010, 08:10 AM Bad year so far for Jérémy, so wins like these are needed. r2473 08-11-2010, 03:39 PM Tough overrule by the chair. The ball wasn't "clearly" in and the chair didn't really have the best view of it either. The earlier shot down the line that was called in (which Baggy said was out by a mile) wasn't bad. Really hard to tell if it was in or out. Baggy should have been able to shrug that one off but didn't. This is the point that started his mental collapse. I mean, come on Baggy, you are playing the ultimate mental midget Chardy. Show any sort of fight and apply any sort of pressure and he will start tossing in UE's one after another on the big points (which is why Chardy never wins any matches). paoktoronto 08-30-2010, 09:33 PM Anyone have this match or know where to find it? My kids were spotted by the camera and we're dying to see it! I tried t3nnis.tv but you need an invite code. | |
