Baggy absolutely furious with the umpire, and rightly so. Some scandalous calls on very important points.

Credit to Chardy though. Did absolutely nothing wrong and a great BH dtl winner at crunch time in the TB.

I used to think Baghdatis was a really fun-loving and charismatic guy, but he seems to be becoming much more brusque in his old age...

the umpire and his henchmen were awful towards both players the whole match.

For so many points in this tourny, it is an embarrassment that a tournament like this doesn't have challenge on its second court.

Replays showed the linesperson was actually correct and the umpire wrong to overule. Far to close for an overule and it was a vital point in tie break.

I like Marcos, but 2010 is a difficult year for Chardy, so I am happy for Jérémy, it's a very deserved win.

Yeah I agree. I didnt think Chardy did anything to him but he was very angry with the chair. Rightfully so

It wasn't just that. There was also the point at 2-3 3rd set. Chardy's BH landed well long but no call.

He is 25 and he got severely shafted by the chair umpire at the most crucial times in this match.

If you're referring to the handshake, he just wanted to get off court as fast as possible. It was nothing against Chardy.

Chardy didn't do one thing throughout the whole match for marcos to be personally pissed off at him

there have been some atrocious calls in this tournament even on center court where fortunately there's hawk eye
there was a service from Stakhovsky around 15cm in
also the point where Nalbandian went 4-2 up in the 3d was called out but was well before the baseline

That match mostly all about Jim, he did the winners and the errors.

Exactly...he was frustrated enough and felt robbed that he just wanted to get off quickly. Baghdatis doesn't seem like the type to feud with other players or get angry at them

Baggy wasn't overly impressive last week, tbh, despite the results. Going from 5-2 to 5-7 in the first set is consistent with that.

Chardy starting to find occasional flashes of form recently. Not at all consistent of course, but his norm lately would be to df 3 times in the tiebreak then hit a forehand so long it lands in the US. This was a significant improvement.

Who was the chair umpire for this match? Anyone know?

Chardy played a good match. No matter what calls go against Baghdatis, he should have been able to put them behind him like someone whose last names begins with N and ends in L. Marcos, I'm afraid, has never been able to keep himself under wraps.

Not sure who the ump was. Didn't recognise him.

Credit to Chardy though. he played a ballsy breaker. Baggy was pushing it to the backhand side seeing if Chardy had the balls to produce the goods when it mattered and, well, the scoreline says it all.

What a horrible way to lose a match. :sad: Reaction is understandable and obvously Marcos will be friends with Jeremy after some time passes. This was not personal. Baggy is an extremely gracious man and good sport. Those with short memories need to go back and watch the Legg Mason Final on Sunday and watch Match Point and the Trophy presentation to get a clearer perspective.

Baghdatis did get some crappy calls, but he also squandered a lead in the 1st set :shrug: :o

Bad year so far for Jérémy, so wins like these are needed.

Tough overrule by the chair. The ball wasn't "clearly" in and the chair didn't really have the best view of it either.

The earlier shot down the line that was called in (which Baggy said was out by a mile) wasn't bad. Really hard to tell if it was in or out. Baggy should have been able to shrug that one off but didn't. This is the point that started his mental collapse. I mean, come on Baggy, you are playing the ultimate mental midget Chardy. Show any sort of fight and apply any sort of pressure and he will start tossing in UE's one after another on the big points (which is why Chardy never wins any matches).

Anyone have this match or know where to find it?
