Cilic was physically struggling but Troicki played well

Nice serving stats from Troicki!

He played well, really took his chances well and played with a bit of initiative.

This was by far the best I've seen him play. He has of course been thrashed soundly every other time I have seen him though.

Bit of an upset but yes the gloss is taken off by Cilic being in poor condition.

What was Marin's injury?

Stomach upset or something, said he was dizzy. He really didn't look good, wanted to stop middle of one of his service games.

Marin  you're a disgraceful tie-break player, I feel sorry for Goran, he must be tormented watching Cilic's tie-breaks

I think no matter how much it isn't said, I still think that incident with the young player has drained Marin a little bit emotionally. It seems after the tipsy match in washington he's hit a wall physically, and he was absolutely thrashed by nalby on saturday. He needs at least a week or two off before the open or he will be upset within the first 2 rounds.

Was this in the first set or the second set?

Was this in the first set or the second set?

He stopped in the second at *adv-40 4-4, and was told to get on with it by the umpire.

Called the trainer earlier, can't remember if that was first set or not.

We're waiting for you to get out of the Top20, Marin. You don't belong. :)

If Cilic had an injury this is understandable. If not he needs to take some drastic measures with respect to his coaching situation. He is really stagnating:sad:

Troicki is gradually coming up, beating better players.

I do think its strange that Troicki and Tipsarevic so often just happen to be pitted against each other in the first two rounds such as now at Toronto. Either that or they are up against top 10 players, while other players in their ranking are playing opponents around their range or less.

But I guess I'm just being paranoid. The draw never ever gets manipulated, right?

Stagnating? well i hope you don't mean he is stagnating from his past USO/AUSOPEN form.

Maybe Cilic is a later bloomer ala Soderling/Berdych, who knows?
His game is nowhere as physical as those guys though.

Only a matter of time before Cilic falls out of the top 20 :bigclap:

Cilic's ranking is a little unrealistic: he got lucky at the Aus Open, with Roddick and Del Potro getting injured. Without those points he's down at 19, which is perhaps more suitable - he has a big game, but it's still very raw, and mentally......

Happy for Troicki since I kinda like him.. still, Cilic should have won this match. Cilic is better than Troicki, obviously not today though..

Cilic will go up there with Robredo, Wawrinka and Ljubicic as one of the most overranked mugs of this generation :wavey:

What incident is that?

He was practicing with a junior player for the washington tourny, and the boy collapsed due to heat exhaustion. He was in a coma for a couple days i believe, but he recovered from it after a couple of days.

Wow! I wasn't aware of this and dug up a thread on this forum about it. Good thing the boy survived. I believe this happened before the start of the tournament. I was half-expecting it might have happened prior to the Nalbandian match, when he looked completely out of sorts.

Good win for Viktor...he needs some wins because he's fallen a bit. Tough draw for Cilic

One more combo achievement from Marin . In almost every Troicki's service game he was 0-30 or 15-30 and didn't break . This guy has more tricks how to lose than Houdini

I guess Troicki didn't get the memo that Cilic is the one that will win this tournament.

Today everyone thinks he´s an expert..
I bet my on house on that 90% of the guys who replied and trashed Cilic here that they hav not watched the match..
Obviously Cilic had an injured or pain or whatever since the start of the 2 set.
He didn´t moved well, so Troicki hit one ace after the other, he sliced too much, his FH was totally off.
If Cilic is healthy he owns Troicki badly... Before this he lead the H2H 5-0.
So stf haters and jump on the Gulbis,Berdych and Soderling Bandwagon of guys who´ll never win a major.

But to be honest, the most pathetic thing about the whole "Cilic hate" thing are the Croats on this board who are just angry and pissed of his losses and now they think they have to trash him...
I bet they did the same to Goran Ivanisevic who also knew to loose against weak opponents and then they went to trash him the same way like Cilic..
But after his Wimbledon win 2001 he is their national hero..
These Croats here are so retarded.
