Why is Guccione at place 320?

He only won 3 matches this year? he did'nt play any grand-slam?
He's now 25 years old and he had some decent results in Australia in the last few years.

I think he isn't that bad??:o

Because he's a terrible player.

He has a good serve, decent volleys and sometimes a big forehand??

flaw in the ranking system
he should automatically be given 2000 point just because he is who he is

He has a good serve, average volleys and almost terrible groundstrokes.

He's an awful player.

New atp rules, penalties for gingers.

He's obese and injured all the time. Also, a lazy-ass.

He got injured as was out like 6 months I believe. He's not that great of a player to begin with and most of his good results seem to come in Australian tournaments. He's not a top 100 player. Also, I disagree about the good volleys part. He struggles on backhand volleys and low volleys in the matches I've seen him.

Soderling got his act together around this age, same with Berdych who's a year younger. It's becoming more common with the amount of fitness in the game for players to peak at around 25. Especially with how tall Gooch is, I always expected him to pull his game together later in his career.

Expect the Gooch to start peaking in the next few years and become a real contender for the AO :yeah:

Berdych is a good athlete, and is a great ballstriker. Soderling hits the ball consistently harder than any player on tour.

Guccione's only above average shot is his serve. And since his serve isn't on the Isner/Karlovic level, and he doesn't have the ground game of a Brands or volleying skills of a Llodra, he doesn't have anything there to threaten anyone in the top 80 at least. He's also a really mechanical player, like he was taught how to play from a book, not natural. He's simply not talented enough to be a high-level player.

The Gooch is a different player in Australia though. He feeds off the crowd like Hewitt and maximizes his potential:
GI-qZc3D-S0
That's him beating the US Open champion in an ATP semifinal

He's also one of the smartest players on tour:
Xp9mACkBM0c

Definitely one of the most underrated players, probably because he's ginger :o He'll definitely have a serious run at the Australian in the next few years and maybe the USO :worship:

319 players have accumulated more ranking than the Gooch in the past 12 months.

Injured for most of the year, ahsn't won many matches at all since he cameback and basically his only ATP points he is defending are in Cincy in 2 weeks, watch his ranking in a few weeks. It's going to be a lot worse.

Gooch:yeah:

January is crucial for him; if he is kept from scoring there for some reason, it's gonna be a tough year
at least he won matches in LA and Vancouver finally

I don't think Guccione is that bad but he was out from the ATP circuit for a long period due to an injury, he is a bit lazy and can't refind his shape
I mean....he was career high 67 and in the past beat players like Hewitt Gonzalez Gasquet Del Potro Berdych Stepanek and one year ago in Cincinnati beat Golubev Kendrick Kohlschreiber and Tsonga to reach the 1/8 finals

Guccione was about to lose. Millman had 7-6 5*-4 . Just at this moment, the percentage of points won with 2nd serve of his rival was awful. I guess Millman choked.

his royal redness will move up when he has finished educating the futures/challenger circuit. There is a bigger picture to the Gooches work that goes unnoticed by some many mere mortals...

He likes hanging with his brosefs on the Challenger Tour. The tennis there is more vibrant, more authentic. Just because guys like Olderer, Djokabitch and Nadull have sold out doesn't mean he has to. He plays where there's cred to be had and only quality fans know about and make the effort to watch him.

The top guys might make the money and get the endorsement deals, but he retains creative control and stays in touch with the underground tennis scene. His last match was rated 10/10 by Pitchfork.

The Gooch is keeping it real.

Too sexy for Top.100

ATP mafia keeping him from putting the likes of Nadal, Verdasco and LaLo to shame :D
