The Us Hardcourt Season

Wow no action in kohli's thread for a while now

anyway here's the thread for his hardcourt season and her'es hoping he finds some kind of form during this part of the season so he can hopefully end the year on a good note.

He first plays the Rogers cup and he needs to play good, he's in a position right now to be unseeded at the Us open he also does have 2nd round points to defend there.

The draw will be made later so ill post it when it is

He plays Tipsarevic, tough draw.

Been a while since he played on HC, hopefully this breaks his slump...

Tipsarevic hat to retire at 2-2 in the 1st set.
With Roddick´s withdrawal he has a good shot at the QFs now.
I´m afraid he didn´t get more match practice und hardcourts so it will be difficult to beat Troicki anyway.

well good news and bad news

..luckily more news then good

1. philipp won

2. he appeared to be playing very well

3. he won because tipsarevic had to retire and thats never a good way to win

But now looking at his draw:

r2 - troicki

r3 - lu/mathieu

he has a very good shot at making the quarters where he will most likely play nadal

troicki is so up and down though he plays like fire in one match and then he can come out the next one and be mediocre

Yeah like Kohli sometimes (remember FO 2009). But I think Kohli should beat him and I also consider him as the fav to win the match.

3-4 kohli trails on serve in the first set

but he really shouldnt be because lu cant find a first serve to save his life

it pisses me off to no end right now that he has a shot to make a quarter final at a masters event and pick up 180 points ans he's losing to someone who CANT SERVE

he had a great chance for his first win but blew it

but on the bright side he had a great week and will move up to number 32 on monday and he lost in the first round in cicny last year so he can only gain points next week.

If he can make another quarter final run in cicny he will re-enter the top 30, he'd be around # 27

he drew zeballos in round one in cincinnati

he's 2-0 against him with both meetings taken place this year and has straight setted him both times so i dont expect any problems here

No, probably not, assuming he won´t beat Federer.
http://www.menstennisforums.com/showthread.php?t=155513
Actually he´s 30th ranked (adding the 45points won today, too) and Nalbandian and Fish can also earn good points here as they are in good form. But he will be seeded at the USO for sure.

misty1
08-19-2010, 01:15 AM
nalbandian has to beat djokovic though, which i dont think he will and fish would have to make the semi final atleast to pass kohli so i think he'll be safe even if he doesnt beat federer. I thought stepanek had points coming off here because he made the third round last year
..although i suppose lleyton could pass him too

either way he'll be close to getting back in there

this forum used to be so active..people were posting in kohli's thread every day and now its dead

kind of funny how everyone was posting ins his thread before he got his own thread and now that he does hardly anyone posts in here anymore

HoistDaColors
09-03-2010, 05:24 PM
uhm i don't think that's the case. the thread in 2008 and 2009, when he had a bit of success and some big wins in grandslams, the cheering thread was still kinda dead. for example, when he beat djoko in the french, a few people posted in the "cheering thread" and then there would be silence for a long time.

It is true that the forum is being underutilized. I am somewhat at fault for not posting more. :o

whhyyy kohli?! ugh the man is such a mental midget.

HoistDaColors
09-06-2010, 01:45 AM
I wouldn't call him a mental midget. He still hasn't lost a match since getting to match point. That means he doesn't have problem closing matches. It's his concentration. He seems to only be able to play one good set in a match.

_Chaz

Of course he has done that already.
Indian Wells 2010 he had 3 MPs against Djokovic but couldn´t convert.

HoistDaColors
09-08-2010, 03:17 AM
oops...didn't know about that game. That might be the first match and I hope it would be the last.

but my idea of an mental midget is someone that gets nervous in tight situations. I don't think he has that problem (regularly). It seems to me that he can't sustain his quality of play like he zones out after one great set.

misty1
09-08-2010, 02:27 PM
so you mean he's streaky? he's not inconsistent because he can get the same resuts regularly, streaky means that he can play good and bad in the same match

HoistDaColors
09-08-2010, 06:05 PM
yeap.

the only match that I have seen him played amazing from start to finish was the one against roddick in AO 2008. I didn't watch the match against Davydenko and Verdasco in the davis cup, but his other big wins against djokovic in the french and murray in monte carlo, i thought it was more of them not playing well rather than Kohlschreiber playing consistently at his highest level.
