Rafa has never lost 1st round in a slam

Interesting fact, I just noticed that Rafa's never lost 1st round in a slam. This is especially impressive considering how young (and little) Rafa was when he turned pro. Roger on the other hand has lost 1st round 6 times (the most recent being in 2003, 5 years into his pro career).

He will draw Brands for the USO and get trashed. Daniel in 3.

Thanks, I checked out your thread. I figured Nadal had the record, that's amazing that Borg NEVER lost a 1st round in a GS! He sort of made up for that in his last comeback attempt when he lost something like 10 first rounds in challengers :)

I believe this makes 25! Actually that's within a couple of Borg's record.

Yeah, it's an impressive record. Closest was to Heuberger at the US in 2004, went 5 sets. The streak could have ended when he was young, but didn't have any difficult draws at the hard court slams.

Most impressive was beating Ancic at Wimbly2003, when he was all of 17yrs and 3 weeks old ..... his first ever senior match on grass (including futures). Not bad for a "claycourter".

Masters 1000 events :

Agassi played 91 tournaments and lost 23 first matches
Federer played 82 tournaments and lost 20 first matches
Rafa played 53 tournaments and lost first match just 7 times

That's amazing that Federer has lost 1st round in almost 25% of his MS tournaments! Is that really correct. Doesn't sound like stats for a GOAT.

Please wait untill both of their Careers are done before comparing. Maybe Nadal will lose 14 times in R1 of his next 30 Masters.
