Definitely Berdych.

equal imo. its less expected that he would lose at wimby, but after the FO loss, and the loss against delpo at the USO, this was always on the cards against another ballbasher.

Berdych without a doubt

I would have to say Soderling @ French, since each successive loss becomes less and less surprising to me.

Well neither one was a *huge* surprise but the Berdych one was less expected. ;)

always a surprise when Roger loses, no?

That's an interesting question because naturally I would say Berdych because Federer has played in 7 straight finals.

But really despite the media circus, I wasn't surprised Berdych beat him. Berdych has been threatining to beat Roger in the big match and he finally did it. If I remember last year at the Aussie Open, Berdych had Federer 2 sets to love but couldn't do it.

Also, after the 1st rd match, you knew Federer was for the taking this time, it was just a matter of when.

So actually Soderling was more of a surprise for me because Federer won the 1st set, and was going for a very important all time record (weeks at number 1) if he won that match.

I was surprised Federer beat Falla.

Berdych without a doubt, even though Tomas caused Roger a lot of problems at the AO in 2009 and was leading 2 sets to 0. Tomas didn't really played that convincing against Istomin and Brands whilst Roger's form seemed to have improved a little compared with his first match (well, it couldn't get that much worse ;) ).

Robin played very well for the second consecutive year through the whole tournament in Paris and has also shown in his latest matches against Roger that it would probably be only a matter of time once he would get a win against him.

Soderling for sure.
From Fed taking 1st set to sudden loss from guy who never beat him (H2H 12-0 or so) and breaking his SF streak.
On the other side, loss to Berdych happened after all of this + after that match with Falla, and Berdych is known to give Fed some trouble.

Results both good for tennis. Also, Sod def. Rafa at RG 2009, Delpo def. Rafa & Fed at USO 2009, good for tennis too.

But, without doubt, BERDYCH !
The defeat means Fed will be absent from the men’s final for the first time since 2003

I was surprised by both, but looking back, probably more by Soderling.

By the Berdych match, Fed had fallen to Hewitt and struggled against Falla.

I wasn't that surprised by either.
Federer looked out of it this Wimbledon & Berdych is a great player, it's not a shock that he won.
Soderling played very well at RG, I said here that he would win in 4 vs Fed... which he did.

The latter, but considering Fed's shaky results as of late (including early rounds here), none was even close to the shock of Soderling beating Rafa at RG last year (which, for a second, I thought was the poll option).

Berdych beating Federer at Wimbledon.

Not the popular option. :speakles:

But I voted Sod. Don't forget Berdych had beaten Fed in their last meeting and this was Sod's first victory over Federer ever.

Berdych

Neither was a huge surprise.

However, the Söderling loss was definitely the more surprising of the two for me given how important that particular match was to Federer and given that the slow surface should give Federer better opportunities for dealing with Söderlings power.

I actually expected Federer to lose to Berdych given Federers poor form of late and given his recent struggles against power hitters.

Berdych ofcourse. First because Federer could win it but he missed his chances and second Federer cares a lot for Wimby. Soda was to good at RG and an unmotivated Federer was easy to defeat.

In fact I was more surprised at the loss to Hewitt.
But given that question, I was more surprised at the loss to Soderling. Berdych was kind of expected given all the info we had apriori.

Soderling, because he never did it before except in an exhibition...Berdych did it at IW 2010
