Of course anything is possible, but that does not make it likely. I won't say Lu's optimism is misplaced given his performances in the last three matches but I find it difficult to see anything other than a straight sets victory for Roddick here.

No chance whatsoever for lulu-boy. He is one the many ATP clowns that still couldn't and will never be able get a grip on the Roddick serve.

Roddick in 4.

Nothing wrong with Lu saying anything is impossible but he has been the beneficiary of a fair bit of luck to get to here but I think given Roddick's recent performances he can take a set and make it a close 4 setter.

If I were him I would think he has a chance it's just it is a remote chance where 9 out of 10 times Roddick would win. He has pulled off upsets before at big tournaments, eg 2009 Aus Open against Nalby and the 2008 Olympics against Murray and Roddick isn't playing at his best yet.

So...if you had qualified to play at Wimbledon...had successfully navigated the first three rounds and were scheduled to play Andy Roddick in Wimbledon's 4th round...you would forfeit...and not show up?

I love how people are pretty much insinuating that, Lu should just give up and let Roddick win. So what if he has 99% chance of losing? He has a good attitude about it, especially since this is his best run, and he has virtually nothing to lose.

Also, has anyone even seen Lu's 3rd round match? Yes, I know his opponent was injured, but Lu was making some pretty good shots. Having a 3:1 ratio of winners to errors isn't exactly something to sneeze about. The guy has some talent, and I think he's going to make the best with what he's got.

To the few decent posters defending Lu here, it's not worth your time.
Somehow I knew after seeing this thread was open, it will become so sort of MTF clowns/trolls gathering.

I don't know if the OP's statement is real or not, and if it's really words from Lu himself. But it just seems like a generic answer to a reporter's question, is it necessary to read so much into it?!

Nice to hear. At least he believes in his game, unlike players like Verdasco who actually say who they can or can't beat, can't see Roddick losing to any play this year at Wimbledon, certainly not when he serves at 70%.

Not to discourage you but everytime a players says this he gets spanked afterwards  seriously I have observed that many times. It it already formulated the way that he suggest the need of a mircale to win. In tennis usually mircacles do not happen.

I saw their match in Memphis this year, Roddick didn't play bad and Lu pushed him at times, don't see why Lu can't win a set tomorrow if he keeps his game together, however I can't see him winning this.

Not on grass. Lu can be tricky on some hard courts, but Roddick should handle him easily here.

This Lu is smart, he knew Roddick doesn't have anything to offer from the baseline, it's like Sela said, you make some returns and you pretty much won the match.
