I love it. The guy has his routine, and he's sticking to it regardless. People won't remember whether or not he bowed to the Queen five years down the road, but they will remember how he performed in the tournament. Nice to see a player not get so doe-eyed over seeing her old ass anyways :haha:

What ya gonna do? The man has his routines before a match. The queen should have known better.

im glad someone gave the middle finger to the queen and the british press.
i hate the elitist nature of the brits and their traditions.

this is why i love rafa, i like him even more now.

when u can get the king(in 2005) and queen(in 2010) of spain to paris to watch u play, why the f**k do u need to bow to a foreign monarch.
last time i checked the spainsh and british royal families are related anyway.

i have seen alot of british newspapers on google news and most of it refers to rafa snubbing the queen.

this is proof rafa dont care what anyone thinks of him, thats why he is so successful.
he doesnt let other peoples opinion bother him.

just like he doesnt care what anyone thinks of him when he pick his underwear in public.

queen of england is a nobody thesedays, just an old fossil still clinging onto the hope the british empire is still important.

rafael nadal waits for no one.
king of clay > queen of england.
the queen is the one that should be honured to meet the king.

well done rafa, u show em boy!

It would probably have a negative effect I'm sure. I respect he has his rituals on court & I'm sure there is a method to his madness off court when preparing for matches as well, hence why he could not fit a visit with the Queen into his schedule. Some people simply don't care about the pomp and circumstance.

britain is a washed up empire.
queen is irrelevant.

nadal has a duty to his fans to win the match as well as his sponsors, not to satisfy a bunch of elitist old farts in britain.

i hate the british royal family, they are responsible for atleast 1 billion human deaths over the last 400 years with their colonisation.
america had to suffer from britain to free itself from british colonial rule.

Strange thing, I saw Rafa play live at this years' Aus Open and was not anywhere near as aware of his rituals as I am when I see him on television. I think the camera kind of focuses a lot on the bottles, towel etc... and of course the wedgie which they can't help because he is serving.

Nadal disrespects thousands of years of British tradition, talks shit about the french, and half-asses the london YEC, and then has the gall to complain about not being universally loved at the FO and Wimby :haha:

Also what is he 5 years old? Does he choose his string tension based on astrology? The superstitions of Rafa are cute sometimes, but when it gets to such ridiculous levels he disrespects the entire country of Britain so he can have enough time to arrange his water bottles it becomes obnoxious and pathetic.

There are enough 19th century customs at Wimbledon to satisfy every antique mind. Fortunately Nadal didn't want to play the 'etiquette game' and he politely said that he was there to play a tennis match. For that, he needed the time to practice and to prepare mentally. It was a matter of priorities – and good for him. What was she doing there anyway? It's not as if she cares about tennis and we don't care that she doesn't care.

im sure the queen is a fedtard anyway, didnt prince william come and watch his god play at the aussie open this year against hanescu.

It amusing me to no end when you go calling us Rafa fans tards.

So, let me get this right. The Queen herself is a fedtard simply because Prince William watched his so-called GOD ie Federer(?). From what I'll heard all freaking day long, tennis is not a sport the Queen like very much.

besides why did the queen snub rafa when he played?
queen showing no respect for the number 1 player.

I couldn't agree more.

On a different note, why was Serena (number one in the world) put to play last on the day on Court 2? ;)

I thought that it was a bit of a rap on the back of the hand for what Serena pulled at the USO. That's the only thing that made any sense to me.

Seeing how the mighty queen has snubbed Wimbledon for 33 years, I don't really think it is an issue. I highly doubt she has been too busy during those years just to make a few visits every 5-10 years, she just couldn't be bothered to come and that is a much bigger display of disrespect.

As a Brit I would say he didn't disrespect me. The royal family is an outdated tradition which hasn't been scrapped because the rags would off their nut.

Nadal didn''t do anything wrong and it doesn't need justified. If I had been at Wimbledon and had a chance to meet her I wouldn't have bothered, because I simply don't care.

Nadal's gesture is emblematic of a general disdain for tradition and authority. Alas, I'd expect no less from a boy of his ilk. Conversely, Roger's encounter with the Queen on the lawn evoked images of a well-traveled Swiss banker cognizant and respectful of custom.

rafa respects everything. If you read his pressers he said that he would love to maat the queen, maybe go and say hello after his match, take a picture etc. Too bad it was match day for Rafa. This guy is who he is because he keeps all distractions at bay. So he couldnt go to see the queen coz he had his routines and he thought he will see her after his match. The queen obviosly doesnt care about tennis (first visit in 33 years) and left after watching her countrymen play. Gimme a break.

You think because of all this bad british press nonsense the organizers will throw rafa onto court 1 or 2 for his next match on saturday? And do you think the crowd will boo him in his next match. I personally think NO and NO but who knows. (although rafa could play on court 1 in his next round considerng the top players have all played once on court 1 including Fed)

Nadal's All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club membership ought to be revoked, irrespective of his 2008 title. His gesture clearly demonstrates the extent to which he is out of place. Instead, offer him a membership to a ritzy tennis club located in Spanish Harlem.

Ignorant, but expected.

Rafa  The journalists in his presser tried to make a big issue of this, he dealt with them very well.

I really didn't know that. Thanks for the knowledge. But, you should tell Roddick that, too.

Roddick, clearly a bit less nervous, joked on Twitter, "Met the queen of england today .... she said she loved me in the american pie movies."

I love the Nadulltards. "I don't personally care about the Queen, therefore no one should and she's stupid :retard:" What you or Nadal think about the queen is irrelevant, it's about respect for Britain which was nice enough to give Nadal a visa, the British crowd who is nice enough to go see his boring matches and cheer, and the game of tennis which started in Britain way before any of us was born.

Sorry that Nadal had to break his superstitions to take a few minutes out of his day and see the queen, but to anyone who isn't a child superstitions are dumb and throwing a tantrum about the royal family because of some nebulous concept of anti-royalism from 300 years ago is even dumber. I hope Nadal is banned from the USO, the spanish-American war was only 100 years ago and that still matters if you're a Nadal tard :wavey:

Roger has a pre-match routine as tight as Rafa? I don't think so, much less now

I'm kidding about Rafa, if he didn't want to meet the Queen, well, he didn't, he's not going to get beheaded for that ;)

What I really find funny is how anally retentive and OCD he seems to be, routines, gestures, everything has to be done his way or he'll get a panic attack :haha:

I think mentioning his routines was just a polite way of saying that there are other things more important than meeting the Queen. I doubt if we can conclude that he was being OCD about the routines in this case.

I believe Nadal suffered an insecurity attack (about his spoken English) that meeting the Queen in person scared him to death. In contrast, his nemesis, Federer, could face the English, German, Italian, and French leaders anytime without worrying about what to say to them. Perhaps it is time Nadal found an English tutor. This is just me.

I feel that Spanish and British royals use sports events in a propagandistic way. When somebody in the generation of heirs behaves improperly, or when the old royals themselves are criticised for some reasons, one of the typical things for them to do is to show up at a tennis tournament, a F1 race or an international football match. Some weeks ago Sophia of Greece, Queen of Spain and Duke of Edinburgh’s cousin, was strongly criticised for her attendance to Bilderberg Club summit. What did she do? Immediately after the end of the summit, she flew to Roland Garros final and got her portion of cameras and smiling photos with the winner. She had never done that before.

If you are a Spanish or a British citizen and you are a famous sportsman, you probably can’t avoid being used by your own royals in this way. But I wouldn’t find logical to demand a Briton to care about, or collaborate with, the propaganda campaigns of the Spanish royals. And vice-versa.
