I believe John can win one more round simply because of his big serving short point game style, Tim the baker is one for the future and has a really good game but i dont think he is smart enough to bt someone like john yet.

dare i say it could be another long one. with Isners serve he'll always have a shot.
I think though that DeBakker will win in 4.

Isner in 3 .. The serve will be much to big to Thiemo and Thiemo doesn't like grass ... 3 Tiebreaks!? :P

After the Isner / Mahut match this morning, the MC guy on court announced that Isner was into the 3rd round. I was thinking that de bakker must have been pissed.

Thiemo is a former Wimbledon Juniors Champ. Didn't do badly in Halle a couple of weeks ago either - he lost against the eventual champion, not something to be ashamed off imho.
One would say he's not that bad on grass.

One Big Server against Another Big Server. This could be Mahut-Isner all over again :scared:.
I give De Bakker the edge for two reasons - he is has a more all-round game, & he might be just a little more rested. Could be totally off, though.

De Bakker in 4, though I hope John can pull another round out. Youzhny is a 4th round lock though.

It is true though, he really doesn't like the grass and his movement looked terrible in every single match so far this grass season..Really can't see them grabbing a win here.

I might well be delusional, just keeping up my good hopes for Thiemo. ;)
Anyways, as usual: may it just be a good match!

Good job on the photos Ivan, that about sums it up.. But I still think the big john can pull off another one. One thing for sure, no one will try to wear down isner and mahut in future events.. It just might work in this match though.

I hope Mahut and Isner will team up for the doubles in the future, becoming the Ultimate Spartan Team. Looking forward to seeing that. :bounce:

No way Isner has anything left. de Bakker wins in straight sets.

Thiemo is a former Wimbledon Juniors Champ.

That often doesn't seem to translate into senior grass quality though - Young, Monfils, Chardy, Melzer .... even Mahut you have to say has never really had any success at Wimbledon.

Isner will win, unfortunately for Thiemo. Thiemo couldn't do anything on Giraldo's serve so I don't think he can against Isner's.
Clay is the only surface Thiemo will have a chance to win in a tie with Big John.

That's true indeed. ;)
Still, all of these players - bar Young :o - have had some kind of (minor) successes in their post-junior careers. Thiemo, he was some kind of a rather juvenile 'party-animal' after winning that title - even getting him suspended from the tour a couple of years ago in some Israel challenger/future tournament for nondescript 'partying'-, but I believe he's changed his mindset by now, and really wants to make the best of his talent now.
Thiemo HAS the talent, it's now up to him to make the best out of it.

Remember, one Roger Federer won that title as well, and *sucked big time* a couple of years to follow just the same. Not that I am comparing Thiemo to Roger, :haha:.

Isner in 4...he'll no doubt be tired and sore, but he did finish decently early in the day which gives him some rest time. I think he'll be able to serve just as well, and if Thiemo had trouble with Giraldo, you've got to think he'll have more trouble with John.

I hope Thiemmo gets a little inspired by Robin's yesterday fight and manage to win this.I think Isner no matter how tired he is has great chance though.

John in three. And, while I'm at it, Big John for the title.

Given the circumstances, it's too close to call. They both have big serves and it could come down to a few key points in tiebreaks, unless the first 4 sets are shared...

Heart says Isner, head says probably De Bakker. I just hope the adrenaline and mental focus will help Isner play through the obvious fatigue. Remember they are both scheduled to play doubles later on today as well, and the winner will have to play the third round match tomorrow.

It's tough to predict such a match, but I surely wouldn't have imagined such a blowout.
Some posts in this thread are quite funny in retrospect.
