Was never worried about this but it was kinda creepy when it was 7-5 first set for Soderling because that's what happened in Australia

Can we just get a petition to ban NadalSharapova/Everko/Start_da_game/etc? They are terrible, zzzzzz

Anyways, definitely want to see a Nadal/Soderling QF

Future number one? Hold your horses there, haha. If he keeps on making the final of RG he has a good springboard for his confidence for the rest of the year, though. ;)

It took a while for Robin to find his range from the ground, and changing to a more tightly strung racquet midway through the first set seemed to do the trick.

The only thing I'm worried about is that he's looking almost too confident on his serve. He was just having a laugh on the return towards the end of the last set.

Every Soderking win thread is full of people proclaiming he's ready to "roast" Nadal, I think you'll find most actual Rafafans aren't too bothered by Soderling :p

Anyway, he looked really impressive again, not much more you can say until we see him get tested.

Soda does great now in Grand Slams, 500 events and he's always been the indoor 250 king :worship: If he can string together some Masters 1000 results, which sadly are way overvalued in the current ranking system, he can get to number one. People overestimate what it takes to be number 1 because Fed and Nadal used to get crazy amounts of points, but those days are over.

SodaKing for world number one in the next couple of years, book it :yeah:

ossie why you so confident soda will fall to rafa. After watching rafa today down 2 sets to 1 i was dead scared. I am so afraid of Sod its not even funny. Even more so now then for RG 2010. ATleast that was clay here its grass and margins are much lower.

u feel confident about Rafa's chances against Sod in the QF. Please tell me why ? I am dead worried. That match in my opinion is the major impediment to my beloved FEDAL wilmbledon Encore...

Soderling is the ONLY man in the tournament who has never been broken on serve AND has never dropped a set. (only 4 other men haven't dropped a set in both their 1st and 2nd round matches - Tomas Berdych (CZE), Andy Murray (GBR), Yen-Hsun Lu (TPE), and Daniel Brands (GER) are the other four players). He's been very impressive so far. He has one of the fastest serves (he's fourth behind Taylor Dent, John Isner, and Andy Roddick) and he has THE highest % of 1st serve points won on the men's side at 90%.

If he keeps up this form, he will be very hard to beat here...

Berdych was broken once in the tournament :secret:

Here are the only men who haven't dropped a set here yet:
Robin Soderling (SWE) (never been broken yet)
Tomas Berdych (CZE) (broken once)
Andy Murray (GBR) (broken once)
Yen-Hsun Lu (TPE) (broken twice)
Daniel Brands (GER) (broken 5 times)

*Gilles Simon (FRA) only played 3 sets to get into 3rd round, because of walkover in 2nd round (he was broken once)

All these 5 studs together dont have a single slam. Four time losing finalists though. To whom I wonder? Federer, Federer, Federer and Nadal. I promised myself no more fed and nadal posts from me tonight. Oh well.

i agree about soderling being hard to beat here. Dont know how I will get trought that QF matchup. It was this very round he knocked out world # 1 top seed defending champ Fed out. Atleast Rafa aint top seed or defending champ. SO maybe I can keep my fingers crossed. If sod is on a tear and serves like a maniac and whips his frying pans to the lines whats my Rafito gonna do?

I was just posting statistics... :rolls: I also added that if Soderling KEEPS this form up that he will be HARD to beat... meaning he could be beaten, but it would be difficult, and that's if he keeps his form up, not if he drops it suddenly. Obviously, if he drops his current form, he will be easier to beat... :p

I didn't say I felt confident he was going to beat Soderling, I just meant that actual Rafa fans don't obsess about Soderling non stop because they may have some deep rooted fear of him. I think he's good enough to beat him obviously, but we'll see what happens on the day, they both have to make it that far first.

Soderling is a beast on clay and grass. Needs to work on his hardcourt game though. Just like his friend Borg was.
